I began my fast today on June 22. This day coincides with the summer solstice but more importantly it coincides wth the time that the Sirius star FADES from the night sky and RISES with the Sun. THe concept of fading and rising is conveyed in the word 'hawaa' used in Chpt. 53 and the Sirius star is chosen because it is the only star mentioned in Chapt. 53.

However I have some questions

Why can't someone witness a month if he or she recognizes the month as it begins and as it passes?

How do we know that the Pre-Islamic Arabs followed a Jewish Luni-solar calendar? Where did this information come from?
