hima is personal pronoun 3rd person in dual, and i think its genitive case ...

ayman can mean a lot of things..."right hands", probably "oaths" and "pledges", and i think many many more....havent acces to the dic. right now....

Here aydiya is a plural (3 or more) too...
What does it mean ?
Since noone has more than 2 hands ; is aydiya refering to power too ?

i will cut off your heads and thus kill you....is such a sentence or expression possible in english? if it is, inspite of nobody having more than one head, then i see no reason why not say in arabic "i will cut off your hands" when it reffers to more persons...i think the translation is correct however i am not sure ...i remmember reading in muhamad asads translation about an alternative understanding of the same expression i.e. "cutting of the hands and feets on alternate sides" in 533...he has said that it is a kind of arabic idiom (cant remember exactly the meaning)however his interpretation seemed far fetched to me then, actualy i would almost accept it as true if it not the the verse 534 that says "except if they repent before you overpower` them"(excuse my imprecise or uncorrect translation)...it was hard to accept that this part was non-literal "owerpowering" what was needed to accept his hypothesis....however ill probably recheck it ...

anyway , muhamad asad has done a nice translation(particularly check the footnotes and his comments)...one of the best outhere imo
