Majority of the religious scholars declare it un-Islamic while discussing this issue on TV. According to their opinion it is disrespectful to the dead body??? Those who are in favor say, "Look at the benefits for other human beings. What are your comments?

I believe that al-quraan was sent down as it say, for guidance upon mankind and that it's stories are 'tafseel li kulli shai' ( a detailed exposition of everything) and so since organ donation isn't mentioned, it cannot be canonised as a law either way.

XXX very important issue.

I have never come across any quranic evidence against organ donation.
If the logic is that human body needs to be preserved for the day of resurrection then I would add, others have already ponited out flaws in this arguement, that most of the physical body is virtually decomposed and other than bones very little remains.
Also each one of us needs to ask ourselves one simple question- What if a member of your family rquired an organ transplant to live would you refuse.

I am not sure if Quran mentions anything about organ donation. Atleast, I havent come across, in what I have read so far.
Also makes me think, why would Allah talk of organ donation in Quran? Clearly, people of that era did not know or practice transplantations. It wouldnt make any sense to them, would it?

you are right brother, may be that is the reason the "pro donation" supporters are unable to produce any verse of Quran in their support.

As for what Islam says about it, I dont know. But what some religious people say in their explanation, is that since all humans will be resurrected into their physical form on the day of judgement, its important not to take out parts of human body. I find this not so convincing, becoz what about deaths occuring by fatal accidents or brutal murders? They loose parts of their body as well.

thank you all for your thoughts.
i think we should have acted according to his wish and donated his eyes, it would have helped two persons to see i feel so very guilty now for not being able to stand up, but at that moment i was so Overwhemled by emotion that i couldnt argue with the people who were against this donation.
during the early 80s, the indian team was visiting pakistan, the indian spinner bishan singh bedi read an appeal for O-nagative blood to save a kid, he gave two bottles of blood for the kid and the kid survived, the next day it was in the paper and then all hell broke loose, mullahs and their supporters started cursing the family of the child who had allowed the blood of a non muslim to enter the veins of a muslim. they appealed to the government to deport Mr bedi but fortunately the goverment and the majority of pakistanis did not support their appeals. mr bedi won lots of respect for his kind gesture.
Insh Allah I too will donate my eyes and will try to make sure it does happen.

God bless you all.

El Sharawai is my Idol and I respect him a lot and learnt from him heaps however I disagreed with him regarding that opinion and I believe at the time I managed to find verses that may refute him, I will have to read the whole Quran though to find it as I can't remeber one word from the verse and this is how I allocate verses quick, by remembering one word from the verse

hence I agree with truth that I see no problem to donate body parts as long as it will help a desperate human and there will be no profet out of it, it is the spirit of Islam anyway
