I see that in the majority of this sites posts it starts with the world "Salam" and other greetings. I would like to know these sayings as not to offend or insult anyone.

its's a tradition, and we create tradition in order to "unify" and solidify "a group". since in the quran it literally says that believers should greet in peace, since majority of the members in this forum have faith in their god, thus they should be a believer, they should greet in peace, and end their greeting in peace.

Allah-u-Abha! (God is the Most Glorious!)Not only that, but in Judaism, they always greeted each other with "Shalom (Aleichem)". The Catholic Christians also had the phrase "Pax Vobiscum/Pax Tecum/Pax Vobis" (Peace be with you). Thus the usage of "peace" as a greeting is not a new one, but an old tradition passed down by our monotheistic forefathers and foremothers.
The Hindus say "Namaste" (I bow to the Divine in you... apparently). Hare Krishnas greet with "Hare Krishna" (Hare is the energy of God, and Krishna is 'God'. Sikhs say "Sat Sri Akaal" (acc. to the Wiki, "Ey be blessed Who says Truth is God).
For us Baha'is, we greet each other with "Allah-u-Abha" meaning "God is the Most Glorious!" because we consider the "The Glorious" or "Baha" as the Greatest Name of God. )
- The Greatest Name is the Name of Comfort, Protection,etc.
"The Greatest Name should be found upon the lips in the first awaking moment of early dawn. It should be fed upon by constant use in daily invocation, in trouble, under opposition, and should be the last word breathed when the head rests upon the pillow at night. It is the name of comfort, protection, happiness, illumination, love and unity. "I hope that thou mayest become informed of the concealed mystery and recondite symbol of the stone of the Most Great Name ... The use of the Greatest Name and dependence upon it, cause the soul to strip itself of the husks of mortality and to step forth freed, reborn, and new creature..."

Alen, you are absolutely right as you say god is independent. i used the term "their" to explain this "salaam" situation as it is practiced within a group, because, cause then becomes as if "god" is theirs!
