Aidid Safar claims that the water Zam Zam is obtained from the reverse osmosis process and the equipment is installed the Kaaba. Is this true? I did a web search but could not find any useful links. If this is true when was this done and what were people drinking before the equipment was installed say a 100 years ago?

Any information in this regard will be appreciated.

    peace.

i have to be sceptical of anyone who claims something about ZamZam when they have no way of knowing that. Is that an educated guess? As bro Bahman said, the official website is government-owned. No non-Muslims are allowed to enter the holy facilities. You would have to have worked for the Saudi government in maintaining the Kaaba and i think those jobs are strictly for saudis if i'm not mistaken. so if some "aidid" just took something out of his butt and pasted it on a website for the world to see, it doesn't make any of his assertions true. i want evidence for his claims. you should contact him and ask him for solid proof if he is truthful.

                  Salam.

I once heard of the woman from France who was diagnosed with a cancer and they told her she was gonna die soon so she went to Hajj in Mecca and drank some Zam-Zam and i think she also bathed in it but not sure, anyway, she came back home and was not only without cancer!
She looked different too, doctors were amazed at her recovery!

                  Peace.

                          Salam,

I just came back from Hajj wich I performed according to the classic "form" except for some rituals. I will prepare a text about this great, great spiritual and human experience just to say that I was greatly "moved" although I consider myself (naturally and as a truth seeker, a God alone believer, a Qur'an alone follower) as some one very difficult to impress. If God wills and if I have time I will give you my impressions. But let's keep within the subject of Zamzam.

I really never gave great importance to what my hajji patients tell me about Zamzam water (that it heals their pains, inhibits the sensation of hunger etc.) until I drank it. Its taste is not very different from a classic mineral water of good quality. I drank liters everyday and I did not feel the hunger (I still have the chocolate bars my wife and I brought with us to the "haram" in case of a sudden hunger ) nor the need to go to the toilets (no sweat since I was for hours in a cooled place, without having the possibility to move more than centimeters) ; I saw aged women with arthritis making the "sa'y" as if they were 20 after drinking that water! I have a patient with hypertension, diabetes, coronaropathy (heart-vessels disease) who stopped his medications (6 drugs!!) in Mekka I was astonished to find that his disease is equilibrated. He claims drinking Zamzam water for his diseases (I succeded in convincing him to take his drugs since there is no more Zamzam water in his possession ;D )

Examples like that, stories like that you report, are numerous but I just wanted to testify about what I experienced.

Yes, I know about psychology, psychosomatic symptoms, endorphins and whatever you will suggest as an explanation for that but... angel

Wow thanks for sharing such an amazing story... looking forward to hearing about the whole experience.

i'm sure not only the zamzam water had something to do with these people's health but also being in the midst of such good energy. everyone praying and being virtuous all in one spot must be a centerfuge for positive energy!

Have you ever heard of Christian priests who can heal people? I've seen it happen.
Zam Zam probably does have those effects, but it's not because of the water, it is because people believe that it will have those effects. People believe that zam zam will safisfy their hunger, and cure their diseases, so that is actually what happens. Or maybe it is just the euphoria of being "close to god" (endorphins! kind of what Boost said, the "positive energy&quot. Our mind is much much stronger than people think. But, the hunger, and the disease, come back when it's all over. And if all you drink for a few days is zam zam, you will become deathly ill.

So although it may help people, zam zam does not have any special magical powers. It is just water mixed with some minerals.
And in my opinion, it tastes terrible.

                                Peace,
I absolutely agree with "phoenix" here. All these effects are due to "self-suggestion" which is a powerful tool and has even been shown to sometimes rid the body of cancers entirely but in the vast majority of cases they come back at a later stage and real medication would yet be necessary. The "holy" water, etc has absolutely nothing to do with the healing. GOD Bless!

                                        From answers.com

                                        reverse osmosis
                                        n.

A process by which a solvent such as water is purified of solutes by being forced through a semipermeable membrane through which the solvent, but not the solutes, may pass.

This process is best known for its use in desalination (removing the salt from sea water to get fresh water) and has been used in this way since the early 1970s.

Also found the answer I was looking for ......

Areas that have no or limited surface water or groundwater may chose to desalinate seawater or brackish water to obtain drinking water. Reverse osmosis is the most common method of desalination, although 85 percent of desalinated water is produced in multistage flash plants. Large reverse osmosis and multistage flash desalination plants are used in the Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia. The energy requirements of the plants are large, but electricity can be produced relatively cheaply with the abundant oil reserves in the region.

In short, Zam Zam is no fresh water coming out from a well, it is sea water desalinated through the process of reverse osmosis. Thats why it tastes kind of funny! Also, the healing properties of sea salt are well documented.

                                        peace.
