    Economics Forum
Share and discuss what the Quran can offer in matters of economics and social welfare.

You've just been given the title of leader in an economically and spiritually poverty-stricken neighborhood. There's a lot of drug use and violence. You've been given the right to run the city as an Islamic city. Where do you begin?

      peace brother/sister,

i understand, here is my input into this topic

if you specifically name the subject you are describing, i could possibly provide a better explanation, but for now, here is my input

in order the run "the quranic society", we must first have to define what "a quranic society" is. second, we have to fundamentally understand the quran and what it is that we are suppose to do to the people under the authority of "the laws derived from the quran"... second, we all have to agree on a basic standard of judgement from the quran, we should be unified about what the quran says and have a "uni-explanation and translation of the quran" in order to avoid bitter debates and mass confusion and division into "quranic sects"(that could turn really ugly).

in order for all this to happen mankind must be intellectually and scientifically expand their research of God in terms of how we can solve problems globally such as global poverty, global warming and many others... secondly, mankind must unify and solidify into one unit to agree upon an universal cause. this universal cause is only possible when the quran has been properly understood and properly applied(in my opinion). that is how i believe we can improve the global economy. right now, most people say that the global economy is good. hopefully, it will get better .

one thing i learned from the quran is that financial interest is really really bad... i don't know how we should solve that problem because financial interest causes a lot of debt for young people who pay for college in America.

i have took an economics course in high school and i will do my best to fill you in

      1. the rate of poverty decreases as you create more jobs.

      2. the more money goes around the economy the more the government can spend for the benefit of its citizens. (i.e. schools, ublic buildings, hospitals, highway etc.)

      3. the more you allow your citizens to spend (the value of the currency is down), the more purchasing power your citizens have, thus sparking an economic growth, since more products are created. more products are created is because you have enough people performing new jobs you have created.

before i solve drug and vioence problems, i will try to solve economic problems since i am under the assumption that most drug and violence are derived from poverty. to stop drug and violence just simply persuade people into education. and it might take some time to work, but with careful consideration, it should works.

folks, that's how I would run the city/place if i was in charge, thank you for your patience!

      peace, rifat
