Peace all,
It wasn't that long ago that this forum was quite chaotic. I admit it was difficult to remain optimistic about our future. But with a steady influx of new, bright, inquisitve, respectful, and positive minds, this place has turned the corner. I just wanted to thank you all for your contributions and to ask that we keep it up.
Peace, and thanks,
TayThank you, son!

Taysalam Tay,
I understand where you're coming from on this. The human animal is a pack animal. In a pack there are leaders and followers leading to a loss of individuality or sorts. I'm sure anyone might argue that there are individuals here who differ in so many ways that it would negate this idea, however it's best to take a good look at what that individuality really means. I'm not talking about how one dresses as oppose to another or what their likes and dislikes are. Individuality in a more esoteric way, is what I'm reffering to.
For a while, I've seen the mods of this site try and hemogonize this site into a well "behaved" pack of human animals. It's understandable, especially in the context of the what so many believe to be part of Islamic Faith. But is this worth the loss of individuality?

peace Mehdi,
I think this forum has some of the laziest mods. Which is not a bad thing.
A disscussion cannot take place if people are insulting and offending each other. We can all display our individuality without resorting to offensive language. I don't have to call you a liar, a kafir, an idiot, an enemy of allah, the devil, a racist, etc to make my point. We can certainly do without the name calling that was so prevalent here a few months ago. -
I dont really understand what kind of individuality bro Mehdi is talkin' about. Is it the kind of disrespectful behavior which some members like the 'late' Enquirer often display by jumping into civilized discussions and introduce their different ideas through uncivilized manners which eventually destroy the healthy discussions and turn them into flame wars?

Peace M, phoenix, all,
is this worth the loss of individuality?
I don't think the two are mutually exclusive. One goal of the deen is mutual bortherhood/sisterhood. Sure brothers and sisters may scratch and claw at each other, but at the end of the day, they respect each other as brothers and sisters, as well as individuals.

I understand what you're saying. But, just so you know, a good chunk of the moderation takes place behind the scenes via pm's. And for the most part, the members have been receptive to it. I think it's working out much better than the public discussions of the past.
Peace,

yeah. What I meant was that you aren't moderating too much. The less the mods do the better. I THINK that most problems get solved on their own.
but thanks (to all the mods).
