    Hello everyone,

I have a problem executing the main command of God. Sometimes I do my Salat and I am totally happy doing but its rare. Most of the time i do not do it because i do feel it inside of me. Sometimes i do it just because i have to do it or else (Big fire blaze of saddistic punishment waits for me..... etc) but i do not feel motivated enough( not i am not mativated to escape from hell but i like to know the good side debate to trick myself ). So basically it doesnt count to God when i do not feel like doing altho i do it. Is there any surra or passage from the qu'ran that can help me out to be motivated to do it happily? Is it right to not perfom salat when you do not wish to do it? What should i do before praying in order that my prayer is satisfactory to the One that wants it? -Thanks

      peace weinmar,

I have a problem executing the main command of God.

Are you sure that's the main command?

Recite that which has been revealed to you of the Book and uphold/establish the salat; surely the salat keeps (one) away from indecency and evil, and certainly the remembrance of Allah is the greatest, and Allah knows what you do.

i been told that the first thing God judge us for is the "salat". If a person didn't do it or missed out greatly then God won't even look at him and send him to burn .......etc.

          Salaam Aleikum,

Look at you? This is not the God of the Quran, but the God of mythology and folklore. What you say above have no basis at all when it come sto the Quran. Salat itself has many meanings, sometimes it is used for prayer, mostly for following the Laws of Allah as given in the Quran and Nature. There are some differences in understanding of prayer. I reccommend just to do what you feel best. I believe it is only given for congregations, and not for individuals, also it is completely false to believe salat can only mean prayer. But these you must investigate for yourself.

Here is a Tasreef/crossreference on Salat, Wakas's crossreference is also good

          http//arnoldyasinmol.blogspot.com/

First you must loose the idea of an angry dictator God, as this is not the God from the Quran. The Quran is here to guide us in making us into a perfect society, and not to show how to 'worship' God in the best way, this is a selfish God which has no basis in logic or Revelation.

I suggest reading al quran, to see what it says.

                peace all,

                in short as i understand,

What salaat is a composite spiritual practice! (meditate, prayer, rememberance, affirmation).
This practice has been given to all religions. but each folk was given a suitable form.
This practice can be done individually or in group formation.
It is a holy gymnastic for our spiritual body.

                Function
Connection of our awareness to higher self.
Recollection of that which we alreay are. rememberance of LOVE for GOD. Opening of heart.
Dehypnotizing of human consciousness. Reprogramming of subcosciousness.

                How
Clearing the mind. Going into a meditative state.
Confession en repentance of that which went wrong.
Confession of your genuine need for guidance.
Affiming the unity of existence and your role in it.
Repeating of sacred and beautiful words till forgetting the sense of I , me en mine.

                peace,

                    Peace all,

While I agree that remembrance of The God is greatest as per 2945, salat is for The God's remembrance and thus very important obligation

2014 "I am God, there is no god but Me, so serve Me and uphold the salat/connection for My remembrance."

We can see in the above verse that the God is directly ordering to uphold the salat for His remembrance. Following verse tells us about the retribution for TURNING AWAY from The God's remembrance both in this life and on the Last Day, and salat is the way to TURN TOWARDS His remembrance.

20124 "And whoever turns away from My remembrance, then he will have a miserable life, and We will raise him blind on the Day of Resurrection."

                            Hello everyone,

Thank you all for the tips. I found out that i shouldn't do it just because i am told to. I begun to question and found out that i am a lazy person. Few exercises keep me alive. I want to just do some good to myself meditating. Its like yoga i guess. it helps calm and let the daily frustrations out.

                            Thank you all again
