Marriage with idolwoshipper
-
I ll be happy, if somebody can give me some advise. My husband is religious sunni. He sincerly thinking that he is in right way.He pray 5 times, fasting, etc.,he help me for housework. He is nice and kind until I dont speak about God alone with him. This topic makes him nervous. He say that moslem can have only one idol-Muhammed.
My question isdo live with him or leave him, because I understand that its not allowed to live with idolworshipper.
More things about himno music(I must listen secretly),I must wear headscarf.I do some things just to be polaite with him, like praing 5 times, with headscarf like sunni.
I dont feel happy, because we are moving in different ways, but I can be patient, because we have 1-year old baby.
But if it is idolworshiping I must leave him? -
Peace to all,
Haneen, you say when you talk to him about God alone he gets nervous, but is only happy when you idolize Mohhamd, sounds like a verse in the Quran about "when you mention other to worship besides God they rejoice, but when you mention God alone they become frightened" sounds similar to your situation. I dont know what to tell you about your situation though besides be aptient and pray to God to help you.

Peace sister,
I had same situation like you before and I did try the best to stay with him but it only get worse and worse so finally I asked for a divorce.
A divorce is not easy and I still suffer from it over a year back now.
I think you will need to talk with him and make clear that you believe the way you do and if he don't want to respect you in your beliefs you'll have to divorce him.
But the way you put it " Marriage with idolworshipper" I think that disturbs you more than his behaviour against you, like forcing you things like wearing headscarves and so on!?

I was thinking about this verse conserning about idolworshiping
"And DO NOT MARRY those women who associate others with Allah <mushrikat> UNTIL they believe, and certainly a believing maid is better than a woman who associates <mushrika> , even though she should please you; and DO NOT give (believing women) in marriage to those men who associate with Allah <mushrikeen> UNTIL THEY BELIEVE, and certainly a believing servant is better than a man who associates with Allah, even though he should please you; AND THESE <MUSHRIKEEN> INVITE YOU TO THE FIRE, and Allah invites to the garden and to forgiveness by His will, and makes clear His Ayat (verses) to Mankind, that they may be mindful." (2221)
I am not sure about meaning of this verse, its like sunnis are idolworhippers, because they assotsiate something for God.

Peace Haneen,
Yes, but what are an idolworshipper? If you ask them they don't see themselves as idolworshippers.
So it's a tricky question indeed.

In my opinion, the reason God forbids us to marry an 'idolworshipper' is because that we could probably get into an unhappy marriage due to our difference of belief. Believing women for example might be forced to obey the religious traditions of their husbands. However, if you do not feel burdened by all of the expectations put on you by your spouse of 'different belief', then there should be no problem. One thing is sure is that God says in Al Quran that ever soul is responsible of him/herself. So you will not be held responsible for the idolworship done by your spouse.

Peace,
Thanks Jankren for sharing that
I once had contact through msn with a guy from India but he wasn't muslim but believed in One God he says.
He really understood me and he was the same deep as I am but I was so fixed with the issue that he was a non muslim and therefore I quit with him.

Salam haneen. Wearing the headcovering is farz on women, do not argue this issue. Surah La Nur clearly states it is farz for women. The parts of Sura Al Nur that deal with nikah to an associator, are not relevant to you, you are already in nikah with him. You cannot use a rule that is for before nikah, after a nikah. Now that you have a nikah, the rajal is your husband. He has the authority. To disobey or desert your husband is a punishable offence in the Quran. Do you want to be punished for doing what Allah says your husband can punish you for doing? Stay away from these ideas, do what Allah tells you to do, say salaat, dua, and zikr, make sawm, give zakat, make haj, and wear headcovering, like a momin. Inshallah if you do thses things you will receive kitab in your right hand.
Allah is mighty wise.
