What English term should be used to translate the Arabic word "Allah"?

I beleive most of us will agree that using the arabic term "Allah" in English translations is not a good option because people may feel offended and hence disregard the Message before even starting to consider it. If we want to make them aware of the Arabic terms we have to use something i like to term as "Gradual Induction" and not confront them immediately with it. This means that 1st you use an agreed upon English word for the term "Allah" throughout. Next you explain about the attributes of GOD and how in Arabic one word can have more than one meaning. Then you go on to explain the confusion which christians and or sectarians have caused with various terms. Finally explain how the quran itself defines certain terms anf then present the Arabic term itself. Here ive now presented a set of terms/abbreviations which could be used in place of "allah" in the English translations and id like you all to vote which one it should be. Thankyou very much. Of course Allah means The God. As for what people think about the nature of God Himself is different case.
JK- It is true to say that "allah" is a conraction of "al" and "ilah" but the article "al" itself which makes a noun special in Arabic does not necessarily translate into "the" in English. It can also make the whole word specific and we may thus translate "ilah" and "allah" using separate nouns. Moreover "God" is a religious term which also has been abused alot. Thats why i mentioned so many alternatives which could be used. I dont know whether even "ilah" in essence translates into "god". GOD Bless!

God is a sufficient word for Allah, its the english word for Allah and is easy to understand.
