Way of Life or Religion

This is with reference to Aidid's book Arabs Conspiracies against Islam where he has mentioned that religion in not about worshipping but it is a way of life.I personally believe this notion and appreciate his in depth research on many arabic words which gives a very clear perspective of Islam as a way of life.
After thinking on this term for long enough I was only wondering how can we bring a change to this world and make it a heaven for our self.The answer is very clear to make islam your way of life and stop worshipping the idols.Sounds very practical.But if only I start believing , will I be able to make any difference,still the outside world would be a hell for me with all the corruptions.So do I have to make an effort and inform the people around me and should start to preach but GOD has said he has already stamped the disbelievers.Than there is another question, whether islam is about myself as an individual who should stick to GOD's prescribed way of life but would this make my life a heaven or is it about the community as a whole where all of us has to strive and make a difference.
I dont know whether Aidid is on free minds as I have never seen him indulging in any of the debates but I would like to seek his reply on above

Than there is another question, whether islam is about myself as an individual who should stick to GOD's prescribed way of life but would this make my life a heaven or is it about the community as a whole where all of us has to strive and make a difference.
Not too sure about the heaven bit, but to try and answer you question, you start with yourself and be an example to others. Remember, you cannot guide even the one's you love, just do your part and the rest will follow.Oh, and welcome to the board.

3133 Move forward eagerly to the tranquil security that comes from your Lord, and to the Paradise that transcends spatial boundaries, encompassing the Heavens and the Earth. It has already been prepared for those who live upright. (Paradise is not confined to the Heavens. Like Hell, it begins right here in this worldly life).

That is one interpetation of the verse. I do agree that a tranquil and peaceful soul is it's own reward. However the idea of Heaven on a material plain of existance where after you eat you suffer hunger and after you drink you suffer thirst is non existant.

If you study the Quran carefully, you will see that it tries to create a Deen, a System for a soceity where nobody would experience hunger or thirst. This is why we must establish the System that follows the Laws of the Quran, iqama-Salaat, in this way we create a peaceful and sustaining society where everyone can develop himself in the best way. The heavenly Paradise is that of balance and voluntarely sustainment and cooperation of the people in the Islamic Society, to keep away hunger and thirst and all other matters of Earthly Hell.
The Deen creates an Earthly Paradise as a preparement for the Paradise in the Hereafter.

Thank you for your suggestion yet my study of the Quran is sufficient to the point where I understand that even though you may like to believe what you just stated above there is a very good reason for hunger and thirst. It simply tells you that you need energy and hydration. Yet, I agree that we aught to strive to end hunger and thirst of our brother and sister human beings that are not getting what they need to survive. handshake
