99% of the creatures that Allah created are now extinct!!

By knowing this how can you justify the claim that Allah is merciful!?

And please don?t say that we can?t understand Allah?s will or Allah does as he wills, coz I aint buying these excuses.

    Peace be upon you.

      Peace Angel,

How does mercy equal saving creatures from extinction? They would have died some time anyway right? Maybe what we think mercy is, is shortsighted in the big picture.

Do you think God should have created zoos? Places where mankind could not go or could not hunt or kept our technological development below that which would have destroyed a lot of these creatures?

God is merciful, it is man who is not.

I doubt it would be cool, and I doubt they'd be able to survive the pollution we've got in our atmosphere these days.

                    Peace Angel,

Death is not an act contrary to mercy. We 'die' all the time, and are 'reborn' anew every 7 seven years. Dead cells are being replaced by new ones. Your body is not unmerciful for not ensuring the eternal life of cells.

Similarly, life in the universe is dying and revitalizing. Not one manifestation of life remains in its original form, but changes. I know for a fact that what constitutes my body, partly comes from extinct animals, insects, plants, stars and so on. I know also that tiny parts of my body will become parts of yet another creation.

Where does the question of mercy arise in all of this?

                    Nadeem

                      Peace be upon you,

Nad mate that is different, our cells do not have emotions, and if I remember correctly they "choose" to die so new cells can emerge.

According to some existentialist animals are not painfully aware that someday they will die like us humans know, is this theory probable?

And would animals have an after life?

                      God Bless

When thinking about animals (not the extinct ones, but the ones we eat), I trust God's mercy, and believe that those animals suffer...in a differnt way. They suffer if we do not eat them!! Otherwise, why don't the escape, or revolt hmm.

Maybe they know better than us where they will go (I mean after they die, not after they are cooked!!)

Some times a simple question here is answered in such a manner that it becomes complicated.

But you should have clarified that you want an answer from Muslims point of view or generally/scientifically??

If with Muslims point of view then it is very clear that NO one dies it is only mutation which takes place, and that is a cycle which continues up to a time.
Every object it seems has a biological age.

Islam defines death as a mandatory transitional event in between the ?life before death? and ?life after death?. So if we integrate the scientific aspect with the description, the definition of death for a Muslim would be the absolute disappearance of the functions for the time period in between the two lives ? one before death and another after death. As a result it abandons the permanent and irreversible criteria of the ?end? in the concept of death with the help of the concept of the life after death.

In very simple words, death is the end of life. So in this simple definition another term is needed to be explained and that is ? life. For human being, life is the existence of an individual. If we take the term existence as an easily understood one, as because not each word can be explained in a limited opportunity, we can now define death and that is ?death is the end of existence?.

In medical science, death is the permanent and irreversible cessation of all vital functions namely the brain function, the respiratory function, and the circulatory or heart function. So the medical definition further elaborates the two aspects of the usual definition, ?end? and ?existence?. Thus, for death, ?end? represents something permanent & irreversible, and ?existence? is mainly represented by functioning.

I agree with NAdeem in his first part of sentence

Death is not an act contrary to mercy

                                  Salaam,

Does the value of a living entity diminish without emotions?

                                  Nad, yes it does.

But you should have clarified that you want an answer from Muslims point of view or generally/scientifically??

I want all three points of views.

                                  Cheers

I'm a bit perplexed as your answer was unexpected, and quite frankly somewhat disturbing. That's my problem, however.

How do you view the Terry Schiavo case?

Was her life less worth than yours, or mine?

                                      Peace Nadeem,

Her life is just as important as anybody else?s.

Terri did not wanna live, so why force her?
IMO expecting her to live when she does not want to is worse then killing her. elektro

Her life is just as important as anybody else?s.

How does this fit with the notion (you yourself agree with) that the value of life diminishes without emotion. Terry Schiavo did not have emotions, so it is said, after she was admitted.

Terry Schiavo lost her emotions the very same year I was born (1990), was her life worthless after that year and the following 15?

Do not become constricted by the specifics of this one case, as her wish to do die or not. I'm simply trying to use certain aspects of her case to better evaluate the subject at hand.

Nad I just don't have a problem with euthanasia, regardless of what Islam says about it. It's a private matter and should be up to the individual IMO. But Terri consciously made the decision that she wants to die, which most of Allah's creatures do/did not have.

                                          peace be upon you.
