Assistence Required

A few of my fellow students and I decided to spend the rest of the semester studying the Koran one a week. Because we are approaching the end of the semester and are all Honors students we don't have tonnes of time to read many lengthy passages, and would like assistance deciding what passages to read. Our goal is to get a general idea of the God of the Koran, and an understanding of the primary messages of Islam. We would appreciate guidance as far as what passages to study.

I think the primary message can be to cleave to God and that those opposing God will not have the benefit of His presence as those who cleave to Him do. God will ignore them as they have ignored God.
Jeff there are so many allusions and mentionings of God that it would be far-fetched for me to give detailed lengthy passages of Him being mentioned. That said I should like to give you some direction as to where God and His qualities are mentioned.
He is described as Light
Provides for men
Takes account of the good word/deed
Suffices for Believers
All-encompassing mercy
He holds those who make sacrifices in high esteem
Aware of all, percieves all things
To be in His presence is the greatest of all rewards
Is unique
His deal is that Iblees is the authority of his followers only and not those who denounce him
He stands by those who keep their duty and are good
Has vast vaults
Aware of who lags and who progresses
Directs to the right way
His well of knowledge exceeds our own
Moses describes the Lord (Rabb - Sustainer)
A depiction of His strength
Gives/Removes affliction or good
All things are His
He is both strict and forgiving
Hope those references will be of some help to you. Otherwise God is mentioned all the time throughout the quran.

Peace Jeff,
That's a good question, and I'm not sure how to answer it. See, to me, since I started reading the quran in english, I've never thought of particular verses or chapters being 'superior' to others. Or one or two passages that cover the whole message. I'm sure if you asked a sunni, however, you'd get very concise (but automated) replies on this.
Perhaps if you read the introduction to quran that we have on the main site, maybe that would cover the basics.
