This is all so ridiculous. The egomaniacal reason why you guys took out the option for a member to be able to delete their own posts was so lame that it's a perfect representation of the board.

All just to keep up apperances eh?! nope

      Peace be upon you all,

I cant believe I just read what I just read. What would be the point of shutting down the forum where people are discussing God? Unbelievable character. Obvious inability to control the emotions(shayteen).

O well, the truth is within where it cant be destroyed, so whatever is destroyed in the outer world can be rebuilt, but rest assured that the Laws of life cannot be escaped, those who do wrong will reap wrong, only those who dont understand that seek "revenge" rather than overlook and turn away.

Peace to all of the peaceful(muslims)

Why should everyone suffer on the hands of a bunch of people? or even one person? Besides that, is that the way islam teaches us to handle things? It's strange.

No offense but the dude who wants to remove things from the site hasn't made a wise decision. Besides not everything in life goes the way you want not everyone is going to agree with you. Two wrongs don't make a right. And sometimes two different opinions can be right.

People do practice what they preach though you should remember a person is only a human and inevitable to error, fear & anger can be very controlling and everyone has different character and goes about things differently.

Anyway Kurt good point, Maybe people did do wrong; the mods. Maybe they should have warned though shutting down a site doesn't make it right either, to me that's worse. Is it fair for me and you? or anyone else? I don't believe so.

Everyone has a right to be upset, but let's be civil normal adults and fix the problem rather than create a problem. I reckon the Brother could talk to the mods and come up with a solution about whatever upseting him, modify the posts to make it acceptable, putting links, deleting posts or whatever is most appropriate. We don't need to be involved as Kurt said. Though we have a right to know that the site maybe shut down.

I hope you?ll be able to fix the problem without having the site shut down. And we should forgive our brothers and sisters for our shortcomings; accept that we all make mistakes and inshallah work to fixing them At least try and trust in God

        Asalamu alaikum

So I guess the threat is justified then. )

Why is it so hard to understand that there is a set of rules to be followed to be a member here. As there are on countless boards. If one doesn't like these rules or prefers to make up their own as they go along, then why stay? Even worse, why join then leave then join then leave... FIVE times! And then demand their posts to be deleted or else kill the board? Please.

          Excellent points Kyle. )

Look, maybe he is a bit paranoid (or just weird). But I would say that if this is a "free" forum, then I guess people should have the ability to delete whatever the hell they want. If he really wants to do that, let him. I am disappointed with this threat from him (or her), I didnt think he would take it this far. But, again, maybe theres a good reason for him to remove his posts, i mean, there could be. so if there is a way for the mods to remove his posts, then please do it.

I would like it if he would post on this thread and explain his rather strange behavior.

              Peace Be Upon You All

Be still. I see alot of ego being played out here. It seems everyone involved has their egos at stake and must be right at all costs...even if it hurts others.

I've done it too many times in my life where I fight and I plot and I yell just to manipulate and save my ego no matter what it does to others. But never once did it really satisfy me. It was always a short lived happiness chased away by incredible guilt for what my hands have sewn.

I think this has spiraled out of control... I agree with Brother Kurt, why not keep this in private? Eventually this will pass but this thread will remain as a witness to this public lynching.
And I also agree with Brother Kyle, why not let the penis picture go? Let it go and move on with life instead of pouring energy into bringing down a whole website that is a bank of knowledge, information and ideas - many of which are your own. No good could come of doing that

I hope nobody takes offense to my opinion

                Salam Zenje,

Peace Mehdiand all,So I guess the threat is justified then. )

Not at all. The point is you guys made up a ridiculous rule just for apperance sake and nothing else. The reasons I see the mods here make more rules is simply because they are getting out of hand with their ideas to control this board in their ways. I understand that there are rules for good reasons yet this is not one of them, and this is first time I've spoken out on this particulare one. I didn't say a peep until this thread was made and we see you guys actually went so far and pissed off someone to the point that they felt they have to resort to this type of threat!

The egomaniacal reason why you guys made that rule is so out of line that it never made any sense. The reasoning behind it is completely unnecessary. If someone deletes their own posts it does not make other members look stupid, if anything the person who deletes their own post deletes any argument they had towards their own view only. Also, this is why we can use's quotes of other members in our own posts.

Of course the mods will continue to hide behind the rules they make in this lil world they try and control, then cry foul when they piss someone off so much that the person feels he has to go that far to make their point! Any of this sound familure Zenje? So no, it's not justifying it Zenje, it's just a product of a very bad choice made by you guys. peace

Yeah. Those who don't want to look stupid later on, should use quotes of the other members when replying to them.

                      Peace!

I myself have followed this from a distant. I don't know exactly why the 'terrorist' believes his threads should be deleted.

You already use a fakename, most here, you don't have your personal records here. This is a free forum that gives you free space. The mods do this voluntarely. free free free. People forget this and start attacking the Mods as if they own the place, well people, the Mods run this place and if you don't like it, then discuss it normaly or leave, is that simple. People get to personal and greedy sometimes, while forgetting the space they use to express themselves is for free and maintained for free.

I'm not judging any side, I want to stay out of this. But I just wanted to say that I do believe the Mods here are doing a good job. This is a hard forum. It is not a Sunni forum where everything that deviates from Sunnism is deleted, this is also not a complete public open forum where everything is allowed, like genetalia. This is Muslim forum, yes Muslim, because we try to uphold the standards of the Quran, which are very open and free but stays in the lines of dignity and moral.

I hope the two sides can settle this or at least forgive each other and go on.

This is a pretty cut and dried case

                        1. Pic was deleted and a suggestion made to post it via a link.

                        2. Member thought of it as an insult and that it ruined the thread (even though the pic could be posted via a link, not the first time that pics, signatures and avatars were asked to be modified so that it's suitable for all viewers on the forum in this particular member's case).

                        3. Member then wants to remove all his posts yet again, and threatens to shut the forum down. Equivalent response over a pic deletion that still could've been posted via a link? Obviously not.

This is a forum with rules, if you do not like the forum rules do not participate, or make constructive viable suggestions on how to better it while still participating and agreeing to the terms of use. We will definitely get all kinds of people who have basic distinctions on how communities should exist, i.e. with rules or without rules or different rules and that is just diversity for you which cause conflicts sometimes through no actual wrong done by any party but just by the fact that they operate on different wavelengths. At the end of the day, in this particular case, there was no need to bring it to this point at all. Personally, I think the member is a cool guy which all of us might be outside the forum if we talked and met D but the medium of the net is such that it might cause someone to misunderstand and lose their patience.

The reasons I see the mods here make more rules is simply because they are getting out of hand with their ideas to control this board in their ways.

Getting out of hand with their ideas to control this board in their ways? ) The reasons why we have more additions to the rules are because the site has grown considerably and we need to address concerns that have arisen due to more diversity in a greater amount of people. As is true for any large site, there are no devious machinations involved, but people can believe what they choose.

you guys actually went so far and pissed off someone to the point that they felt they have to resort to this type of threat!

Yeah, we told him we'd huff and puff and blow his house down and then set it on fire, thus the resorting to this type of threat. In actuality, we told him to post the pic via a link. I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't be resorting to these types of threats in a case like this, because it's an over the top response.

I'm sure all the large forums who have this rule are all egocentric then? How does it not make sense to have a record of someone's posts where one is participating with thousands of other people who might not think the same way? In a real life community when someone is debating someone else do they have the option to lobotomise the other dude and erase his memory? Obviously they can choose to forget what they themselves said which is fine orally, but not in a text based medium. Not all members quote the entire post in their own posts anyway. Additionally, I'm not sure why someone who talks about personal responsibility (those posts were erased due to personal choice though but I still have the partial quotes in my posts), should be averse to accountability of one's own words? I can understand certain personal information that people felt they impulsively contributed to be erased and other valid reasons but whole histories not just once but multiple times?

Of course the mods will continue to hide behind the rules they make in this lil world they try and control, then cry foul when they piss someone off so much that the person feels he has to go that far to make their point!

If you can't see the forest for the trees... -\

I'd like to take this time to show my support for the Free Mind moderation team's conduct and I back up wholeheartedly its recent decision and forum rules, Savage you already got my message before all this started and the decision to put a stop on post deletion is by no means unreasonable, as others have said, it's a simple message, if you don't like it you don't have to participate.

However in light of this I can also understand the point of view of the person who wants his posts deleted as they feel victimised due to this misunderstanding. It is a pickle indeed. '(

At least after this whole thing has blown over everyone on the forum understands the addition and everyone new signing up is aware of the rules that govern this environment.

                            Peace all

Why did the moderators need to go public with this threat ,I see this as a sign of weakness on the behalf of the moderators ,they should have dealt with it quietly. There weakness in going public has opened the door to every tom dick and hennery to try there luck at attacking this forum.

Let the person who has a grievance delete all his posts or do it for him and while you are at it ask other members as well.

Ask all members to agree to terms of the forum by sending an agreement message ,those who do not agree should be asked to leave politely.

If you are going to moderate then you should moderate with authority instead of running to members when the going gets tough.

Personally I think that moderators do go over board some times then again I do not like authority .

                              Salam,

                              For the record

This matter was dealt with in private as the mods had already taken action by banning the offending member for a period of 30 days. My understanding for this thread was that mods wanted to alert people of a possible sabatoge of the forum and to know not to worry and that action will be taken. I do not believe the mods were reaching out for help or boohooing to the forum members on this issue.

The rules on this forum exist for the protection of the forum and its content. Such rules have been constantly expanded and/or modified as the situations have dictated, and not out of any pleasure or egomaniacial backdrops as have been suggested.

I believe enough has been said on this issue and this thread will be locked.

                                peace all,

salgan, your comments disappoint me. I will reply to some of your points briefly, as I do not wish to begin a discussion. If you wish to, feel free to pm me.

Ask all members to agree to terms of the forum by sending an agreement message ,those who do not agree should be asked to leave politely.

I know its a while since you joined, so perhaps you have forgotten but before registering you are asked to agree to the terms & conditions. Furthermore, the forum rules have been present on the forum and marked clearly for all to see.

If you are going to moderate then you should moderate with authority instead of running to members when the going gets tough.

So on the one hand you clearly state you want an open/transparent/voting system then you state the above. You are damned if you do and damned if you dont is that your system? Lastly, there is no running to members, its called informing them. Perhaps you'd wish we dont inform anyone the site may go offline.

To all members, if a member has a genuine/valid reason to want their posts deleted, the mods/admin are willing to re-consider in such cases. Reasons such as spite/malice/revenge etc are not valid reasons.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.
