How can such confusion in the translation arise, I wonder?!

    051.024
YUSI Has the story reached thee, of the guests of Abraham?
    051.025
YUS Behold, they entered his presence, and said "Peace!" He said, "Peace!" (and thought, "These seem) unusual people."
    051.026
YUS Then he turned to his household, in extreme haste,
    051.027
YUSUFALI And he got close to them... saying, "Will ye not wait?"
    051.028
YUS He conceived a fear of them. They said, "Fear not," and they gave him info of a son endowed with knowledge.
    051.029
YUS But his wife came forward (laughing) aloud she smote her forehead and said "A barren old woman!"

This is only what i think.

ok, so now I am lost on so many levels &

Moses? Abraham? Saved? Dude, what are you talking about??

            Side-track

What I do think is this Why is it that Zakariah and Abraham had sons who were also prophets, from barren women? What's the link? Or more importantly, if this is allegorical, then what's behind the metaphore??

How can such confusion in the translation arise, I wonder?!

The information of "barren women" was not from God, but from women themselves. This was the trend untill recently, that women were the sole partner accused of sterility.

Maybe the wisdom is that good people will/ should not not divorce their wives (or get a second one) because their wives cannot give birth.

                Salaams Br's,

Sorry it seemed so straight forward for me - but my misunderstanding.

Abraham isn't a name but a quality of a person, like Mohammad is as are yaqoob,Ismael,Isaac.

Abraham is made from, Berra (example 2177) and Hamma.

and in the above scenario believe it or not Abraham is the father of Moses who saved their sun from the men of Pharaoh who have come to slaughter him. Look at the context of the ayah's - looks so straight forward.

Has the story reached thee, of the guests of Abraham?
Behold, they entered his presence, and said "Peace!" He said, "Peace!" (and thought, "These seem) unusual people."
Then he turned to his household, in extreme haste,
And he got close to them... saying, "Will ye not wait?"
He conceived a fear of them. They said, "Fear not," and they gave him info of a son endowed with knowledge.
But his wife came forward (laughing) aloud she smote her forehead and said "A barren old woman!"

the women is showing she is barren to show they are without a son as the strangers claim, obviously otherwise they will kill their son.

and in the continuation of the subject matter at 37114 there is evidence to this also.

Sorry if i have confused you.

                God Bless.

hmmm... There is an Egyptologist who does believe that certain monuments depict the message of Abraham among Egyptian relics... interesting

Simple, if you don't mind, can you please clearly write up a paper to discuss this issue?

Sister Samia, your comment indeed has merit!
