    Peace Joe,

There is a community of deaf people who lived on a particular island where the language was sign language and the odd man out was the one who could not speak sign language, not the person who could not hear.

That's very interesting, which island was it?

a bloke with such a view is disturbing, it reveals something sinister about him, like he can't control himself, and the fact that he has sympathy for people that refuse to control themselves is beyond sick, so basically your just as sick as the rapist. IMO saying that dress code matters is just as bad as saying 'pedophiles are not to blame for their behavior coz kids are so cute'.

          peace

rape has nothing to do with how a woman dresses. most rapists are just sick and addicted to raping, it has nothing to do with a dress code.

we live in a world where a man DOESN'T HAVE TO rape a woman because there are women who will willingly have sex with a man, the man doesn't have to try that hard.

but SOME of these women do actually dress in a way to tease men and to attract them and to have sex with them. of course they want certain men but there will always be some sick puppy who will want her and will do anything to get her even if it means to rape her.

It's somewhere in North America, I think near Maine or Rhode Island. I forget where it is.

A woman can walk round stark naked and man has no right to rape her

Definitely. Any woman can walk around stark naked and noone has the right to sexually assault her just like anyone can leave their wallet full of money on a busy street and noone has the right to pick it up and get away with it. However, I disagree with people who say the victims in both cases are 100% faultless because as far as I know even in a US trial involving a rape case, the first question the lawyer gonna ask is "What kind of dress did you wear when the crime occurred?"

In my personal opinion, I honestly despise women who dress in extremely 'inappropriate' way not because I think they deserve to be sexually abused, but because I can't help to fear that one day a sick mother****ing bastard might sexually assault her and ruin her life forever. This is why I keep telling my teenage sister that she should always dress in a way which makes guys think that she is very pretty but never in a way which makes them think that she is extremely sexy and hot.

              Peace,

                Peace Samia,
                Do you believe in predestination?

Predestiny is nowhere in the Quran, only an Iblis of nature believes in predestiny so he can move the responsibility ot God

716 Iblis said, "Since You have willed that I go astray, I will lurk in ambush for
                them in Your Straight Path.

A true believer knows he has complete free will and decide their own destiny and thus bares the responsibility of their deeds

723 They said, "Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. Unless You forgive
us and have Mercy on us, we will certainly be lost. (Man and woman
accepted responsibility acknowledging that they had free will as against Satan
who had ascribed his disobedience to the will of God 716)

I can see this is a sensitive topic, and I did not foresee it would cause so much controversy. But what I mean is that in the case of rape, the woman is not being voluntary, yet the fact that she is being raped is due to her being dressed immodestly, or being out in public by herself. In Islam, when a woman is out in public, she is to be accompanied by a non-mahram male, such as her father or brother, or otherwise her husband. Woman should also not be out in public too much.

And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof (2431)

So she should know better, and if she is raped, than in a sense she was "asking for it". Just like if you drive recklessly, though you do not intend to get into an accident, if or when you do, obviously you were "asking for it". So as far as I am concerned, if Islam was the law of the land, rape would not be a problem at all, it would be non-existent.

                  Dear Yusha,

Your ignorance is again shown perfectly. You know how many women get raped in Muslim countries while wearing Burqa's or Hijabs? Thousands.

It is not the clothes that determine rape, it is the unbalanced psyche of a man who believes he owns women and can thus take them whenever they feel like it. It is not seeing women as beings or equals, but as possesion and objects that causes rape.

In Western society women are portrayed as sex-objects and thus stimulate these wrong acts, in for example many Muslim societies, women are seen as possession, something that is not equal and must serve men, this is the cause for many women to get raped, even by their own husband.

So Jankren, you're not for the clear heels huh?

I agree, dressing too sexy is not always good. It's better to be naked than dress that way because it does not exude such sexual spice as the standards of being sexy does. Being sexy is when one accentuates something others will find appealing.

For those women who want to go out naked!

Women who spread immorality and lewdness in the society

415 Protection of honor and chastity for men and women, both, is the cornerstone of a virtuous society (1732, 424). If any woman or a group of women spread sexual immorality or lewdness in the society, it is required that the appropriate court takes four honorable and reliable witnesses. If their testimony corroborates with other evidence (1226), confine them to their houses, since immorality is as contagious as good conduct. This confinement would be for an indefinite period, unless such women seek the Way of Allah, such as repentance and amendment, or the singles among them get honorably married.

A few months ago, a man here raped a 70 year old woman. Why?
Rape is not about sex, it's about power. A man rapes a woman to show her who's boss. I'd say rapes are more common in Islamic countries where women are considered inferior to men.

And behavior is much more important than clothes.

i read this entire thread until i got to the end, i was figuring i would post something about rape being not about sex but about power, and i am at least sort of glad that lobster and joe posted it before me. at least someone knows what they are talking about.

the part that doesn't make me glad is that it took all the way to this far in the thread for someone to say it.

well of course elke, because "his kind of muslim" would also be married to "his kind of muslima" and we all know the ahadith say a good wife never says no to her husband's sexual advances.
