    Salam all,

Just wondering what those who view miracles as strictly metaphorical make of the following verses. I'm not trying to rekindle the conflict, but really would like to see how this can be fit into your viewpoint.

    (5114-115)
    114. Jesus son of Mary, said ?O God, send down to us a feast from heaven, that it becomes a joy to us from the first to the last, and a sign from You, and provide for us, you are the best provider.?
    115. God said ?I will send it down to you, but whoever rejects after this from amongst you, I will punish him a punishment like no one else from the worlds will be punished!?

Some questions that come to mind when reading these verses are the following

Why would God give these people a punishment like no one else for their rejection of his sign?
If we all have access to his signs, and all his signs are of equal significance (assuming no miracles exist), then why such a condition (punishment like no one else of the worlds) be placed on rejection of the sign?

Please base your answers as much as possible on the words written in the Quran. Though any answers are welcome, I would prefer different word interpretations (i.e. kaba=ankles) in deriving your conclusions than symbolic guesswork.

    Peace
