Are Faith (Belief) and Religion mutually inclusive, mutually exculsive or independent of each other? Would appreciate your opinions and why and what made you think so? Thanks.

      Salam.

Faith is something you have in yourself, within your mind, right?
      Religion is the name.

      Right, sisters and brothers?

      Peace.

Faith is the strength by which a shattered world
          shall emerge into the light.

I believe that the most distinct difference between faith and religion is that faith is personal and religion is communal yet connected, thereby being mutually exclusive, wouldn't you agree?

True faith (as opposed to blind faith) comes from observation. Seeing is believing.
The word "religion" can have several definitions. If religion refers to spirituality then faith is part of it. We need to have faith in god.
              They are both individual things.

"Seeing is believing" is not faith but fact and the word faith is not a proof of anything be it true or blind. True faith can very well be blind.

If faith is part of religion, then they must be mutually inclusive and not individual or independent things as you suggest.

How so? Would beleiving in god be a 'true' faith or 'blind' faith?

                  peace Genteel,

"Seeing is believing" is not faith but fact and the word faith is not a proof of anything be it true or blind. True faith can very well be blind.

Faith, not in facts, but faith that those facts can be trusted.
For example, we make mistakes, and we learn from that mistake and the next time we have faith that if we do it another way, that mistake won't happen again. When I turn the key in my car, I have faith that it will start. I do that everyday and I'm never anxious about whether it'll work or not. I don't have that faith because some book told me to, but because I've seen it work again and again. Of course, I don't KNOW that the car will start when I turn the key, but I have faith that it will. My car, unlike the universe, is a bit inconsistent.

We shouldn't have faith in god's existence, we should know that. The only place faith can apply is when we pray to God, when we are grateful to god and do good things, we should have faith that god will make everything alright for us, that what goes around comes around.

There are things we just can't know, and that's where we need to have faith in what we do know.

If faith is part of religion, then they must be mutually inclusive and not individual or independent things as you suggest.

I didn't mean individual as in seperate, but I meant that both together are personal, not communal. they apply to everyone but how you get to them and how you apply them are up to the individual.
