Salam aliekum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh
I just stumbled across the Free Minds site through a google search and I was elated to see a whole community of thinkers that believed in the same intellectualism that I associate with Islam.
The whole reason I converted is because I love that it is a self-governing religion based on One God, but I was entirely disheartened to find most of the Muslims I come in contact with are very narrow minded and not progressive thinkers, nor do they seem to have the ability to question or use reasoning.
I was beginning to think that the enlightened intellectuals had all been killed off, or worse, the Islam I had come to love so deeply was a mythical thing. MashAllah, I found this site right in time.Anyway, to my question. I have heard a lot about ?The Message? on these boards and decided to look into it further. My primary inquisition for the time being? Is this book an ACTUAL translation of Quran? Or has it been changed? Any more insight into this matter would really help. JazakAllah khair in advance. hail
Salam aliekum
Mayameen Iman -
It's a movie, or is there more than one "The Message"?
It's based on hadithic teachings (the movie).

Salaam OPF!
She is talking about "the message" on the home page, not the movieSalaam Mayameen
welcome
I think it is a translation of the qur'aan that reflects to some extent the general belief of this sight (no reference to stories or to ahadeeth). And yes, it is a recent translation, if this is what you mean by 'actual'.

You can read "The Message" here
http//free-minds.org/quran/
It is a good translation. I might even say very good but like ALL translations it is not perfect. Please bear this in mind during your study.

Oh. I assumed it was a proper noun, i.e. "The Message" instead of "the message"...

Salam.
First of all, welcome and may The Exalted GOD AllPowerful protect you from all evil.
Second be constantly grateful to The Exalted GOD Most Merciful Who has guided you here.
Third Obey The Quran, don;t just read it, listen to it, get the information from it and follow it. If someone in The Quran prayed in the past and is now in Heaven, follow that example. If someon in The Quran gave charity and was saved from Hellfire because he and she followed The Quran ALONE, follow that example.Fourth make The Quran your Guide.
Fifth Pray - that is the biggest obediance. I'll provide the chapter/verse later, GOD willing.
May The GOD Almighty help you and protect you.
Good luck.
Best wishes.
Take care.Peace.
