    Salam,

    I hope someone can help me. The Quran doesn't tell us to love one messenger more than others.

    Those who disbelieve in GOD and His messengers, and seek to make distinction among GOD and His messengers, and say, "We believe in some and reject some," and wish to follow a path in between;
    these are the real disbelievers. We have prepared for the disbelievers a shameful retribution.
    As for those who believe in GOD and His messengers, and make no distinction among them, He will grant them their recompense. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

    So what I want to know is, why is it that I've been taught to say "salla allahu 3alayhi wa sallam" after Mohammad's name. But after the name of any other messenger or prophet we only say "3alayhi al-salam".

    can someone please analyse this linguistically and tell me what exactly is going on here?

    Thanks heaps.

    Salam peace

      you've been taught to say that because according to the hadith muhammad is the greatest of all prophets, he's perfect etc.. which is contradictory to the quran as God calls out the prophet muhammad a few times for making mistakes

        Thanks Dargento,

        But then I want to say "alayhi al-salam" after all the messengers names (including Mohammad)! so as not to make distictions amongst them. But i can tell you if someone hears me say "Mohammad alayhi al-salam" I'll get killed! P

        Peace peace

          According to verse 3343, we should all be "salla Allahu 3alaina".

            Please also read the thread titled "Praise be to Muhammad Rasool Allah" by Rajah before arriving at any conclusion.

              Peace

              you are welcome.

              i would say you don't have to say anything after saying any prophet's name (keeping it simple) but i don't see anything wrong with it as long as you don't put them near the status of the God as most traditional religions do
