I'm not sure if this has been discussed on this forum or not.
Why are the following verses listed under the root Saad-Laam-Yaa & not Saad-Laam-Waw?
Sad-Lam-Ya = to warm at the fire, endure heat, to roast/fry/broil/burn.

They are different roots.
I assume you quoted that from Project Root List. The root list was originally compiled from Hanna E Kassis' 'Concordance of The Quran' and that is the way it is classified there. Most classification systems do separate SLY and SLW, but there is sometimes confusion because different lexicographers alternate the end vowel in roots, i.e. A, Y, W depending on their preference for classification I believe. However, most have it as found in Project Root List, as far as I'm aware, hence this was the classification adopted.

Thanks for the reply. What I don't understand is that in the quranic text many of these words classified as SLY are written with a W.
