Why Jesus{peace is upon him}declared arrival of only ONE messenger after him?
-
Easa {Jesus} Alaihissalaam addressed Bani Israel and Allah quotes him saying
Wa iz qa_la isabnu maryama ya_ bani isra_ ila ini rasu_lul la_hi ilaikum mushad diqal lima_ baina yaday ya minat taura_ti wa mubas siran birasu_liy yaiti min badis muhu_ ahmado? falam ma_ ja_ahum bil bay yina_ti qa_lu_ ha_za_
Rashad Khalifa ?Recall that Jesus, son of Marry, said ?O Children of Israel, I am God?s messenger to you, confirming the Torah and bringing good news of a messenger to come after me whose name will be even more praised (Ahmad)? Then when he showed them the CLEAR PROOFS, they said ?this is profound magic?{Refer 6106}
Jesus had told the People of Book that only ONE messenger will come after him. He said ?His name is Ahmad?. It is evident from the entire Quran e Majeed that throughout human history, no messenger of Allah had ever said to his nation that after him only one messenger will come. And none of the Messengers ever told their nation about the name of messenger of future. Why Jesus {Peace is upon him} did so?
Before Jesus was sent as Messenger to Bani Israel,
Wa laqad akhazalla_hu misa_qa bani isra_'il(a),{Ref 512}
Allah did aforetime take a Covenant {Misaq} from the Children of IsraelWhat was the agreement/bond/promise given and taken from Bani Israel?
wa qa_lalla_hu inni ma'akum, la'in aqamtumus sala_ta wa a_taitumuz zaka_ta wa a_mantum bi rusuli wa'azzartumu_hum,{Ref 512}
"I am with you if you establish regular prayers, practice regular charity, and you believe My Messengers, honor and assist them.Laqad akhazna_ misa_qa bani isra_'ila wa arsalna_ ilaihim rusulu_(n),{Ref 570}
We took the Covenant of the Children of Israel and sent them Messengers.It is thus evident that when this Misaq was taken from Bani Israel, they were told at that point of time that many Messengers would be sent. They were tied with the bond/promise (Misaq) that they will accept and believe in all the incoming Messengers and whenever they come they will be assisted and honored. Easa (Jesus Peace is upon him} was the last but one Messenger to be sent to people.
He had to clarify to the people of Bani Israel with regard to their Misaq that now there will be only and only one Messenger after him in whom they will have to believe and assist and honor him in accordance with their Misaq.
Had he not clarified it Bani Israel they would have remained for all times under the impression that more messengers can come to them in view of their covenant of believing in the incoming messengers. It would have meant keeping the door opened for false and self-pronouncing messengers.In view of the statement and announcement of Jesus in simple, straightforward, clear and unambiguous words and terms would it be incorrect to say that after Muhammad {Salaam and peace is upon him} any person who calls himself a messenger of Allah is but a liar and imposter? If we don?t say like that, would it not mean that we do not believe in the statement of Jesus? And if we do not believe the statement of Jesus as true, can we be called believers?

Peace,
Do you base your argument on 6106 only? That does not explicitly deny that a messenger may come after Muhammad. If I said ?Recall that 6, the number after 5, said ?O Children of Israel, I am God?s messenger to you, confirming the Torah and bringing good news of a messenger to come after me whose name will be 7? " does that mean that 8 does not exist? No.

Brother OPF,
I am not basing an argument. I have based a question on 6106 to get enlightened from the knowledge of very scholarly persons available on this Forum, from whom I am learning a lot. I am trying to remove hurdles in my way to reach learned Rashad Khalifa because if he is truly a messenger of Allah and I don?t believe in him don?t you think I will be doomed? Would anybody like that I am doomed? I am sure no one on this form at least.
Is the miracle ?rediscovered? by learned Rashad Khalifa any bigger and surprising/mysterious than those which were demonstrated by Jesus {Peace is upon him always} to Bani Israel? {Those who call themselves as Nissara were the part of them} And what was their fate?
{Rashad Khalifa} Then when he showed them the CLEAR PROOFS, they said ?this is profound magic? {Refer 6106}
Can miracle of 19, by any stretch of imagination, called a clearer proof than those of Jesus?
My little common sense irritates me that Allah should have sent clearer most evidence to the posterity of people whose fathers called the clear proofs as profound magic.Majority of people, including those of People of Book kept asking the Messenger of Allah to bring and show for them some miracles so that they can conveniently believe the Quran e Majeed. Isn?t it strange that Allah kept saying big NO to all of them? And suddenly after 1400 years He considers it appropriate to send a miracle of 19 to make their posterity understand and believe that it is truly a Book, which was sent by Him. I am perplexed and need guidance desperately.

As-Salaamu Alaikum Mazhar,
This subject on here has definitely been one of debate on many threads here. I haven't read them all, but have seen a few of them. I like your approach here and point of view that you have presented. I can't say if anyone before now has presented it, or refuted it, since I haven't read them all. Although I can't 100% agree or endorce this position right now, only because I haven't studied it completely for myself, I must say that I like the way you have presented the material for discussion and understanding. After I have researched some myself, or read other's point of view on it, I will try to respond latter to see if I can agree in my mind 100% with the evidence you have presented as proof.
I have always believed that Muhammad was the last Prophet, but have also always left the issue of whether or not he was the last messenger, as something to study and not take a position on. Although I have never believed personally that Rashad Khalifah or anyone else was a messenger of Allah as described in Al Quran, I can understand someone's point of a messenger being one who carries the previous message and delivers it in some special way to others. But I have never believed that anyone else was the type of "messenger" as mentioned in Al Quran such as Moses, Jesus, Muhammad, etc.
Many here on the forum have come to conclusions over the years since studying Quran only, and have seen many arguments against their position of what they believe. Sometimes since they have successful defeated those arguments with Quran, reason and logic; they become convinced in their new belief to the same degree as "sunnis" or others are convinced in their beliefs. So whenever new evidence is presented, don't necessarily expect them to "immediately" change their position to believe the evidence. We are all still human, and change sometimes takes a while because of our unique nature.
I hope this adds something or helps, although it was not written as a proof for or against what you presented.
As-Salaamu Alaikum, peace

As-Salaamu Alaikum wa rakhmata Allah,
There is another point that Allah has not addressed/named the last Messenger as ?Ahmad?. He has taken his name as Mohammad {Respects, Salam and peace is always upon him}. And has told us to remember him by this name adding RasulaAllah. If we, copying Allah?s words, praise the last Messenger by calling him ?Rahim?, perhaps the finest attribute one can imagine, what would be wrong in it? Learned Rashad Khalifa quoting Jesus {Peace is upon him always} had said about the last Messenger ?whose name will be even more praised (Ahmad)?.
When Jesus {Peace is upon him} was telling Bani Israel about his arrival, he said his name is Ahmad. Ahmad is Active Participle-one who praises. But when Allah introduced him to the humanity, he is introduced by the name Muhammad- one who is praiseworthy all the time. And when we say he is Rahim we do nothing but praise him.
-
As-Salaamu Alaikum,
Muhammad can also be translated as "one who praises much". "Meem" when added to a verb is also indicative of one who is actively engaged in the act (verb), i.e. "muslim", "mu'min", "mutaqeen", etc.
Al-Hamdulilaahir Rabbil 'aalameen. (The Praise is for Allah, the Lord of All the worlds/systems of knowledge)
As-Salaamu Alaikum, peace

As-Salaamu Alaika Mazhar,
Is there a reason why you posted the exact same post as your last one after I responded? I fully understood the first time what you have bolded and colored in this time, I think. Can you elaborate on any other point that you are trying to point out?
Also, as I am sure that you will agree, there is a big difference in saying
BISMILLAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM
Suratul Faatihah ayat 1
Transliteration Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi
Literal By God's Name, the Merciful, the Merciful/Most Merciful .
Free-Minds In the name of God, the Almighty, the Most Merciful.
Rashad Khalifa In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.verses calling the Messenger of Allah "raheem".
Suratul Tauba ayat 128
Transliteration Laqad jaakum rasoolun min anfusikum AAazeezun AAalayhi ma AAanittum hareesun AAalaykum bialmu/mineena raoofun raheemun
Literal A messenger had come to you from your selves, powerful(painful/dear) on him what you suffered (from) exertion/hardship, holding onto stingily and desiring strongly (careful) on you, with the believers merciful/compassionate, merciful
Free-Minds A messenger has come to you from yourselves, concerned over your suffering, anxious over you, towards the believers he is compassionate, merciful.
Rashad Khalifa A messenger has come to you from among you, who is careful not to impost any hardship on you, and cares about you and is tolerant and merciful towards the believers.As-Salaamu Aalikum, peace

Assalamo Alaikum.
Not yet well trained/experienced on internet. The post went again by mistake. Reflexes are quite slow. Apology for mistake. But my mistake has given me new understanding through your post. Thanks."Also, as I am sure that you will agree, there is a big difference in saying

However I do not agree with all those translations/opinions which regard "A{L}r Rahman" as attribute-name instead of personal name of Allah. Personal name and attribute name are two different things. Quran e Majeed tells Ar Rahman is the personal name of Allah-the only Ilaha.
