How i came to GOD Alone

Salaam everyone,
It has been a multitude of small things which has brought me to GOD Alone. But ultimately i got tired of people telling me that i need to do "such an such" so i can get 10,000 reward and if i do "xyz" my reward will be multiplied by ten and if i say "this and that" i will get another couple of thousand rewards... Jeeze! if all they are doing it for is the reward they dont deserve it!
I felt in my heart that this could not be what Allah meant or wanted Islam to be. It seems too easy and at the same time wrong to just follow all the other muslims around me blindly without questioning anything. So my aim is to simply study, question and learn as much about islam as i can. From the research that i have carried out (mostly on the net) i truly believe that muslims are getting themselves into more trouble by studying and relying on the hadith than simply ignoring them all and following the Quran alone. So its nice to join a site people share similar ideas and a place to ask questions without worrying too much about getting any backlash.
i look forward to reading many of the topics and posts on this site. I dont like posting much but i love reading )

I know how you feel. I, too, was annoyed when people were obsessing about rewards, good deeds, and what not. I try to do everything good for the sake of Allah, and I have faith in him as he is The Most Just. I don't do good because I get a specific reward of this day of this month because some cleric said this, unless of course he is backed by Quranic evidence.
I do wonder what the quran has to say about this...

I have a question for you. Why are you so quick to reject something? Why not read about it a bit more before reaching any conclusions. Isn't it possible that your source of information about hadith in this case are people who are illiterate on the subject? My advice to you would be to read more and more about it. If you are unsatisfied even after much deliberation only then you should reject it. Also do read much about what the Quran alone position is before thinking about joining their ranks. Religion is a serious matter don't be fooled into anything before much deliberation.. I have been here for a month and this is my first post. I too am of the view that there are many many glitches, mistakes or whatever in the Hadith but I will be really wary before jumping to any conclusions because to me religion is indeed a very serious matter. Anyway Good luck and may Allah guide you to the straight path.

Why are you so quick to reject something? Why not read about it a bit more before reaching any conclusions. It is a serious matter, and most of us who have rejected them have done so after doing a lot of reading. Might I ask you why you are 'so quick to accept something' even when it sounds fishy?
If there are "many many glitches, mistakes or whatever in the Hadith" then it seems like a good idea to be a unsure of their 'guidance,' don't you think?

Other scriptures sent by God have been immersed with misguidance and mistakes,

Ok you can use your mind agreed but what about those millions and their leaders who are parroting and following them and enforcing them blindly.

In 'Science' different theories are put forward by different people. E.g. Darwin's theory of natural selection, Mendel's hypothesis of segregating factors, Kepler's laws of planetary motion.
In the Bible, different books have been written / compiled by different people. The four gospels themselves are from different sources, and so are most of the different books, e.g. Corinthians (mostly by Paul, I think)
As for the Hadiths, the Sahih Bukhari collection is ENTIRELY compiled by Bukhari ALONE, so yes, I would reject that collection in its totality. The same goes for the Tirmidhi, Muslim and other collections
