How do you make an oath in islam?

I just wanted to know how you make an oath in Islam(The one where you have to feed people or fast if you want to break it).Can you do It without meaning it to be an oath?Is a promise an oath?

I would think your word is your oath, e.g. if you promise someone or God something. In 589 and 2224-225 it clearly states that God will not hold us to account for thoughtless words in our oaths, or those not intended by the heart. And provides us ways to redeem if we break earnest/sincere oaths, e.g. by charity, fasting.

These are just my initial thoughts.

i made such an oath last year. I promised i would fast for certain amount of time and i did. The thing is, it must be from your heart. God bless you.

Oath? You mean nazaar?
Well I have quit it, I cant fullfill nazaar.

If you mean it by swearing, well sometime I curse my friend to frighten em, not really I want to see them suffer.
