For each of you We have made laws, and a structure; and had God willed, He would have made you all one nation, but He tests you with what He has given you; so strive to do good. To God you will return all of you, and He will inform you regarding that in which you dispute.

It seems that, according to this verse, God has sent different laws to the different nations.

    But

He has decreed for you the same system He ordained for Noah, and what We inspired to you, and what We ordained for Abraham, Moses, and Jesus ?You shall uphold this system, and do not divide in it.?

How do you reconcile these 2 verses ?

    Looking forward for your opinions

    Peace

      Hi JM,

Maybe Abraham, Moses, and Jesus etc. are from one nation?

God does say some prophets weren't mentioned in the quran, maybe these are the prophets of some other nation?

      Just conjecturing

        Hello

4213 clearly say "Sharaa Lakum MIN Al deen", i.e. only parts of our deen is the same as those previpous ones, the verse never said that what we have been given as a whole is identical to what was given to the others before us, ONLY PARTS OF OUR DEEN, "MIN Al DEEN"

Also JM this is the only comment I'm willing to provide because what I said is clear , MIN Al Deen, i.e only part of our deen is the same as before

        Salam

          Hi Ahmed,

          That's very enlightening, thanks!

So, the social laws in the quran are different from before, but the tenets of belief remains the same? I've been suspecting this for a time, but didn't know.

Brother, if this is true, can we say that the social laws in the quran are intended for the arabs at that time?
And that we are allowed from the quran to follow other social laws other than that in the quran, since our society is different from the society quran revealed its social laws to?

          Just questions).

            Hi Ahmed,

            Hey bro

I believe many of the social laws are different but also some are identical and others are similar but not identical

            for example

The core believe in Allah and other reuired beliefs most likely are identical

some of the laws are identical

some of the laws are similar

and the rest of the laws on apply to those who believe in the last message and never applied on anyone before

Brother, if this is true, can we say that the social laws in the quran are intended for the arabs at that time?

I don't think so because the Quran was not sent to the Arabs, also I believe from the Quran reveleation the whole world is one Ummah and will stay as suich till the JD.

And that we are allowed from the quran to follow other social laws other than that in the quran,

            absoluetly not

why you want to do that?, donlt you trust your God that the final message is desgined for all?

since our society is different from the society quran revealed its social laws to?

            Just questions).

            Nadeem

There are many issues that requires laws and the Quran never stated such laws but the Quran left the door open for the Shora between the believers, i.e. an election to create such laws to deal with sociteis affairs as they grow and expand

            Salam

              Hi brother Ahmed,

              absoluetly not

why you want to do that?, donlt you trust your God that the final message is desgined for all?

I believe a hundred percent in god and the final message, but it's the "Designed for all" claim I wan't to investigate.

Let's say a doctor tells a diabetic to take insulin shots each day. Now like the diabetic, I too trust the doctor, but that doesn't mean that I should take insulin shots as well.

Similiarly, God has told the arabs to follow certain social laws. I trust and believe god, but does that mean that I should follow laws god might not have intended for me? If I find that they were intended for me, God-Willing nothing will hinder me from following them.

I hope you see what I mean. I'm not trying to make excuses to exempt myself from the Quran. There are no excuses from the good. I'm only trying to follow it the right way. You know, do good and do it the right way )

I'm really a n00b on this issue so I'll let it be for now, and absorb some more scripture before I speak )

But here are some question I wonder. If the quran was sent to whole mankind

1 - Why did god chose the relatively "most difficult to learn" language avaliable?
2 - Why is there no commandment in the quran to the believers to spread the actual scripture? (as far as i know, which is quite little)
Are we supposed to be missionaries for other than

              • invite to what is good,
              • advocate righteousness,
              • and forbid evil.
                (3104)

God could easily add "translate the scripture and spread it".

              I simply wonder )

              Nadeem

QS. 33/52 .... no change wilt thou find in the practice (approved) of Allah.

QS.30/30 So set thou thy face steadily and truly to the Faith (establish) Allah's handiwork according to the pattern on which He has made mankind no change (let there be) in the work (wrought) by Allah that is the standard Religion but most among mankind understand not.

Allah's law never change, by His law he controls universe, if there were chaenges the planets would be in collision each others.

The verse QS.5/48 mentions that the task of Apostles are to maintain God's law, wherever he sent he had to lead people to abide Allah's law and get men's law out.

It is He Who hath sent His Messenger with Guidance and the Deen of Truth, to proclaim it over all deens, even though the Pagans may detest (it).

Here are 2 interesting renditions of this part of the verse

Khalifa For each of you, we have decreed laws and different rites.
Asad Unto every one of you have We appointed a law and way of life

I now think these 2 renditions are wrong.

I think it is wrong to assume that the laws decreed are different for each people. They have to be the same laws.

Therefore, a more correct rendition would be

QXP Now has come to all of you the Divine Law, and a traced-out Way.

                  Your opinions ?

                  Peace

As per Asad's footnote, my understanding is

"Unto every one of your have We appointed a way to a watering place and a way of life. And had God so willed. He could surely have made you all one single community but in order to test by means of what He has given you."

I take it, in this sense, to mean that there is to each group (type) of people the place or 'space' where we derive what is indispensable to our lives (physically, emotionally, and mentally) and a way of living that life. ---We are NOT meant to be carbon copy robots, all striving to do the same things as many people would lead us to believe!!

                      Salaams Br's,

                      i think Burhans got it right;

...........To each among you have we prescribed a law and an open way. If Allah had so willed, He would have made you a single people, but (His plan is) to test you in what He hath given you so strive as in a race in all virtues. The goal of you all is to Allah...........

The law is and was the same for All , and at the very same time we have the freedom of choice.

                      God Bless us All.
