Seeking refuge in God from evil ones.
-
Peace be upon all readers,
It had struck me as odd as a child that we say the proper name of Satan at the beginning of prayers albeit adding that he is rejected. This is based on
1698 When you read the Quran, you shall seek refuge in GOD from Satan the rejected.
Fa-itha qara/ta alqur-ana faistaAAith biAllahi mina alshshaytani alrrajeemi
The present formula for fulfilling this is
"aAAoothu billahi mina alshshaytani alrrajeemi"
which uses a portion of 1698; however I noticed a while ago an actual "Say" type verse that may be the more accurate way of fulfilling the command of 1698
2397 Say, "My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the whispers of the devils.
Waqul rabbi aAAoothu bika min hamazati alshshayateeni
2398 "And I seek refuge in You, my Lord, lest they come near me."
WaaAAoothu bika rabbi an yahdurooni
Peace.
