The God Module
-
Peace,
A study of brain activity mainly amongst epileptics concluded in 1997 revealed the presence of permanent module in the temporal lobe that is stimulated by prayer and meditation and, when activated, is able to produce religious experiences ranging from hearning the voices of higher beings, to visions, to paranormal experiences. The scientific community has admitted that this module is the
twilight zoneof neurology as there is no explanation for why it is present in human beings."Findings seem to point to a region of the brain commonly referred to as the 'God Spot' or 'God Module', that when stimulated creates hallucinations that are interpreted as mystical or spiritual experiences. This 'spot' is stimulated during meditation and prayer and is affected by electromagnetic fields and epilepsy. The resulting hallucinations may be the cause of mystical, spiritual and paranormal experiences as they can give feelings such as a presence in the room or an out of body experience. In the case of epileptics, this may be the reason for many of them becoming obsessed with religion. For those who experience the stimulation it is explained related to their own personal beliefs; a visit from an angel or lost loved one, an extraterrestrial encounter, a higher plane of consciousness or a visit from God. A very captivating discovery. But here's the catch
"People have been tickling around the edges of consciousness, and this sort of research plunges in," Kinsely said. "There is the quandary of whether the mind created God or God created the mind. This is going to shake people up, but (any conclusion) is very premature."
Michael Persinger has a vision - the Almighty isn't dead, he's an energy field. And your mind is an electromagnetic map to your soul.
Thanks for bringing that up, Layth.

God is in the whole brain
In the link Layth presented, the studies started in 1977 and researching for many years, scientists may have analysed and reasoned to believe that there is no "God Spot", as determined in the link above. I reckon, the God notion (whether mono or poly) is instilled in one's mind as evidenced from prehistoric idol worships and continuing until today. The quandary underlined in my previous post seem to be strongly pointing at "the mind created God" scenario. I have painfully extricated myself from all religious pagan ritual practices but still very much believe in the One Creator or One Whole without stamping any attributes. What much of the Quran emphasizes, in terms of fundamental principles and certain governing factors, are universally accepted nonetheless and had been administered eaons ago.As mentioned in another thread that prayers, wishes and miracles are temporary soothers (and offenders) and looked upon from opposing sides to persuade partial effectiveness but lacking substance or its real meaning. And here's another thing one may find intriguing in http//www.livescience.com/strangenews/ap_060330_prayer.html.
