Good question. I guess there's some popularity in the Tucson community, although they are mostly upholders of the '19 miracle' thing and/or are followers of RK and call themselves Submitters. On the other hand there isn't much good news coming out of Egypt on 'Quranites' http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=14443.0
I wonder if there are any other little groups elsewhere (apart from the one in pakistan) and how people are perceiving the concept of God/Quran alone.
I do not agree with this. I have seen several debates in Egyptian TV about the Quranist. They are definently emerging. Remember it took Wahhabism nearly 180 years to take off. It started at 1770 and only spread 30 or 40 years ago. the Muslim brotherhood was formed in 1920s yet it took only after the 73 war for it to emerge and then spread. So we are seeing a emergence today, it will take time but we need to be doing what we are doing. I have recently visited some arabic forums and I have seen some Quranist brothers who really are getting involved and spreading their message. However remember we are not united, and we have differing views on many issues. People hear different things about us. But we are doing fine, all we need is some more video we can download in youtube or something. All the Sunnis and Shia admit their is a new emergence of Quranist and we are slowly gaining acceptance. But we are still not united and many of us are still confused about what Islam should be. Remember stepping in the ring is not the hardest part, is what to do once you are there thats hard. Thats why the Islamist failed. They only cared about getting to power and not what happens afterwards and screwed up. hypno

True Bigmo, it does seem the message is getting out there, at least they heard of us and talk about us now,, I was in a an Islam chatroom the other day and started talking about following Quran only and they got mad at me, then when I proved them some points with the Quran they kicked me from the room, unbelievable, it reminded me of one I first converted to Islam and I started to argue with Christians (which I used to be) when I made my point to them with the bible verses they said I was a liar and they would kick me also,

it DOES not make you different. Unlike the Qur'an, which are direct commandments, the hadith should alo be looked on and followed, but only in a way that sayings of cerain historical figures are quoted, and not divine, but wise none the less. Both parts of Shahada must be followed so that the Submitter realises that there is a plot/story aspect to creation, with muhammad being the seal of th prophets

So God needs to be told repeatedely who his messengers are? Does he not know if Muhammad is the seal of the prophets? Does he have a bad memory or something? Who is your salaat too? What is the bloody point of saying that? Is 'religion' your heart, or your tongue? Does God hold you accountable for mere uterrances or innermost intentions?
If it's mere utterances, i declare myself 'muslim' by saying the word, just saying it makes me muslim right?2225 God will not call you to account for your casual oaths, but He will call you to account for what has entered your hearts. God is Forgiving, Compassionate.
I am not going to engage in name calling, and I am not calling you a hypocrite by quoting this verse, I will let God be the judge of that

Being kicked in very normal as initially there would be reactions. First start by laying out some problematic hadiths, and there are many, this way they would understand why you have problems with it. The biggest problem comes is when you try to define what being a Quranist is since people understand it differently. The Ahl Al Quran website you gave a link for understand it differently then how some here would.

Is Jesus not the messenger? Why don't you obey the bible then? Oh thats right it wasn't written by the holy imams who call themselves muslims, so not authentic right? What about Moses' hadith, and Abrahams' that are followed by jews? Why don't you obey them?
