I don't know how any of this done but I have noticed a lot more Islamic iPhone apps lately from different groups. It would be nice for the Quran Alone movement to have some Apps. Is this possible at all? Any ideas/suggestions?

      What would the app do?

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

Does the Iphone have forum access?

I myself would rather recommend the N900... or the update to the n900 (n1000?).

Well, most phones like these have net access so they could read Quran trans. online, but I guess an app could be created for a Quran trans, to be used offline, built in word search etc.

Open burhan and project root list no?

You know what, that project root list should be turned into a wiki styled website, then it'd be completed and more some in a quicker time.

PRL is planned for mobile access/apps. The grammar data is effectively done (it will be integrated with the grammar data at Quranic Arabic Corpus which is going through a verification/correction phase), so it is just a fine-tuning of Classical Arabic dictionary meanings and re-formatting. GW, if all goes well this 6 year project should be finished this year. I then plan to launch an even bigger project

This year? Why not in the next two months?

What bigger project? You forgot to say.

Well I have the HTC Hero and there's a app called 'Submission' ... it includes the English translation of the Qur'an by Mr. Yuksel. It does include a section on hadith, but that's good if you need to look something up to show someone something that is ridiculous. D

How interesting, though I'm sure I don't come here for the opinions regarding hadiths.

It is not the 'opinions' on the hadiths - it is simply a database of the hadiths compiled in Bukhari, Muslim, etc.

Can you make your own Apps?

                                Salamun alaikum,

I'm in the process of converting a couple of translations by hand as I don't have the software to do it automatically. All I need is the text of all the ayats in order without surah and ayat number in a list (each ayat seperated by a carriage return) and I can modify an existing free app for the iPhone to allow reading of our favourite translations.

The app is already excellent, but they won't approve the texts themselves (as they are 'heretical&#039. I'm currently modifying QXP to fit, didn't get a response from Dr Shabbir, so thought I would modify it myself. I was going to keep a copy for myself and ask the publishers to see if they would mind me doing this. The translation file is stored as sqlite database. Not being too computer minded - don't know how to it properly except manually. QXP pdf converted to text for editing has introduced too many carriage returns, which I am removing by hand.

Once I have the relevant permissions, I will share the app for you to install on jailbroken idevices.

                                Let's hope it all works...

                                Peace
