My question is so simple but the answer is not as simple as you think

If you were in the time of the Prophet peace be upon him, and he said to you don't do this thing and do this particular thing and it's not existing in Qur'an, what will be your answer ?

1- I'll not do it because Quran that was revealed to you didn't mention this particular thing.

    2- Can I know why .

3- I'll do whatever you asked my prophet, after all obeying you is obeying God.

And there is a possibility for the fourth answer from you guys with justification.

      Salamun alaikum,

The answer is also quite simple.

If the prophet said for me to not do something and do some other particular thing, I would use my brain to determine if it is a social norm, and I would not need to ask if it is the commandment of God because he would have said so. If he just said something without it being 'prophetic' in nature, I would choose myself.

The issue of authenticity does not come into play because I am hearing a commandment DIRECT from the Examplar. WITHOUT 200+ years of fabrication and forgery and people's selfish interests in between.

There are things like if I hadn't brushed my teeth and they were manky - he would have, for my betterment, asked me to brush my teeth and I would have obeyed.

The prophet embodied the commands of the quran.

      Now a question for you

How can you link the words contained in the hadith directly to the prophet and take them without question? Under the assumption that the word written in the collections are in fact the actual words and actions of the prophet Mohammed (S)? You are in essence placing the hadith to be on an equal footing the actual words of the prophet (S). The problem still exists that you CANNOT, with out a shadow of doubt PROVE that they are in FACT the words of the prophet Mohammed (S).

      Peace
      d

        The answer is very simple.

If it is not in Quran and the prophet made this clear then this means the instruction is not binding, thus one can use their God given faculties and choose whether to "obey" or not, if it is in their best interest etc.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

          Salamun alaikum,
The answer is also quite simple.

ah we say As-salamo Alaykom not salamun Alaikom

You still not giving me the answer, you're just trying to expand the thread and make it lose its value.

the prophet told you and he knew better than you and you said I'll use my brain, plus if it's not prophetic you'll choose yourself, wooow ok now I'm sure of you being worst than Quranists themselves.

The issue of authenticity does not come into play because I am hearing a commandment DIRECT from the Examplar. WITHOUT 200+ years of fabrication and forgery and people's selfish interests in between.

the hadith Sahih is authentic, can you leave a space in your mind for this ?

there is no selfish interests about the writers of hadith, they were normal, and they died normal, and their aim was spreading the prophet's saying because they are important for the next generations.

          Now a question for you
How can you link the words contained in the hadith directly to the prophet and take them without question?

what the hell are you talking about? I've studied hadith, so I know better than you what kind of questions should people ask, questions are also important in understanding hadith but not question lead to disprove as you do like why we should lash the wrecked, this is a silly question.

Under the assumption that the word written in the collections are in fact the actual words and actions of the prophet Mohammed (S)?

Yes, you'll know that if you'll study hadith.

You are in essence placing the hadith to be on an equal footing the actual words of the prophet (S). The problem still exists that you CANNOT, with out a shadow of doubt PROVE that they are in FACT the words of the prophet Mohammed (S).

Yes, I'm sure of it because there are verses in Qur'an show that what the prophet said is also from inspiration other than the inspiration Qur'an. you know that Gabriel the Archangel was showing the prophet how people must do things.

Could you please stop picking on people for their supposed misspelling of Arabic? http//img337.imageshack.us/img337/3135/iconconfused.gif

Your own posts are full of mistakes, small and serious ones, sometimes to the extent that they are difficult to understand. But if people commented on every single mistake you make, we would never get to discuss anything.

May I quote a hadith by the prophet Jesus for you? Whether saheeh or not http//img185.imageshack.us/img185/2562/iconwinka.gif -- it is definitely a wise piece of advice

Why do you notice the splinter in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own?

How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me remove that splinter in your eye,' when you do not even notice the wooden beam in your own eye? You hypocrite! Remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter in your brother's eye.

            (Luke 6, 41/42)

465 But nay, by thy Sustainer! They do not believe unless they make thee a judge of all on which they disagree among themselves, and then find in their hearts no bar to an acceptance of thy decision and give themselves up in utter self-surrender.

4105 BEHOLD, We have bestowed upon thee from on high this divine writ, setting forth the truth, so that thou may judge between people in accordance with what God has taught thee. Hence, do not contend with those who are false to their trust,

542 those who eagerly listen to any falsehood, greedily swallowing all that is evil! Hence, if they come to thee , thou mayest either judge between them or leave them alone for, if thou leave them alone, they cannot harm thee in any way. But if thou dost judge, judge between them with equity verily, God knows those who act equitably.

548 And unto thee have We vouchsafed this divine writ, setting forth the truth, confirming the truth of whatever there still remains of earlier revelations and determining what is true therein. judge, then, between the followers of earlier revelation in accordance with what God has bestowed from on high, and do not follow their errant views, forsaking the truth that has come unto thee. Unto every one of you have We appointed a law and way of life. And if God had so willed, He could surely have made you all one single community but in order to test you by means of what He has vouchsafed unto, you. Vie, then, with one another in doing good works! Unto God you all must return; and then He will make you truly understand all that on which you were wont to differ.

549 Hence, judge between the followers of earlier revelation in accordance with what God has bestowed from on high, and do not follow their errant views; and beware of them, lest they tempt thee away from aught that God has bestowed from on high upon thee. And if they turn away , then know that it is but God's will to afflict them for some of their sins for, behold, a great many people are iniquitous indeed.

                  2448 And whenever they are summoned unto God and His Apostle in order that might judge between them, lo! some of them turn away;

2451 The only response of believers, whenever they are summoned unto God and His Apostle in order that might judge between them, can be no other than, ?We have heard, and we pay heed!?- and it is they, they who shall attain to a happy state

The Prophet PBUH was given the duty and right to judge the people during his time, so anyone who feels that he was not. Good luck to you.

                  Peace

Are you insinuating that following Ahadith is the same as following a direct instruction from the Prophet (s)?

?Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. It is no less than inspiration sent down to him?
                        (533-4)

In the Qur?an it is explained very clearly that the inspired speech of the Prophet that is the Qur?an and nothing else. Allah makes a clear distinction between the Prophet?s ordinary speech and the revelation that he recites.
Consider that we see that Allah admonishes and corrects the Prophet in the Qur?an in several places. Here are a few examples
?Allah pardon you! Why did you give them leave until those who spoke the truth had become manifest to you and you had known the liars??
                        (943)

                        Another example

?O Nabi! Why do you forbid (yourself) that which Allah has made lawful for you; you seek to please your wives; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.?
                        (661)

                        Another example we see is
?(The Prophet) frowned and turned away,
Because there came to him the blind man.
What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace)?
Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him?
As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient,
To him do you address yourself.
And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself
And as to him who comes to you striving hard,
And with fear (in his heart),
                        Of him you were unmindful.?

?And when you bring not a verse for them they say Why have you not contrived it?? (7203

?And if you are in doubt concerning that which We reveal to Our slave (Muhammad), then bring a Surah similar to it, and call your witnesses beside Allah if you are truthful.?
                        (223

Or, do they say He has forged it. Say Then bring ten forged Surahs like it and call upon whom you can besides Allah, if you are truthful.?
                        (1113)

?And We have not taught him poetry, nor is it meet for him; it is nothing but a reminder and a plain Quran, that it may warn him who would have life, and (that) the word may prove true against the unbelievers?.

?And thus have We revealed to you an Arabic Quran, that you may warn the mother city and those around it, and that you may give warning of the day of gathering together wherein is no doubt; a party shall be in the garden and (another) party in the burning fire.?
                        (427)

?And this Quran has been revealed to me that with it I may warn you and whomsoever it reaches?
                        (619)

Say I follow only that which is inspired in me from my Sustainer. This (Qur'an) is insight from your Sustainer, and a guidance and a mercy for a people that believe. And when the Qur'an is recited, give ear to it and pay heed, that you may obtain mercy.?
                        (7203-204)

We know best what they say, and you are not one to compel them; therefore remind him by means of the Quran who fears My promise.?
                        (5045)

?And to rehearse the Quran and if any accept Guidance, they do it for the good of their own souls; and if any astray, say ?I am only a warner?.
                        (2792).

So it now very clear that the only revelation received by the prophet for our guidance was the Qur?an.
The above evidence contradicts all claims of the people that the Prophet received other revelations besides the Qur?an. Therefore, let us now consider the following statements of the Qur?an -

If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) Unbelievers (Kaafiroon).?
                        (544)
?? If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) Wrong Doers (Zalimoon).?
                        (545)
?? If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) those who rebel.?
                        (547)
?And We have revealed to you the Book (Quran) with the truth, verifying what is before it of the Book and a guardian over it, therefore judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and do not follow their low desires (to turn away) from the truth that has come to you; ??
                        (54

So as Muslims, we must derive religious knowledge and guidance only from the Qur?an and not from the normal speech of the prophet.
Another easy method of coming of seeing that the prophet?s speech was not revelation is as follows -
                        When Allah said
?This day are those who disbelieve in despair of (ever harming) your religion; so fear them not, fear Me! This day have I perfected your religion for you and completed My favour unto you, and have chosen for you as religion al-Islam. Whoso is forced by hunger, not by will, to sin (for him) lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.?
                        (53)

(3669-70)(801-10)It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between right and wrong).

So if they dispute with thee, say "I have submitted My whole self to Allah and so have those who follow me." And say to the People of the Book and to those who are unlearned "Do ye (also) submit yourselves?" If they do, they are in right guidance, but if they turn back, Thy duty is to convey the Message; and in Allah.s sight are (all) His servants.

                          Dear afridi220

Just on a side note, verse 544-48 gives details about previous scriptures (Torah, Injeel) being used as the guide while the people at that time were judged and moves onto the Prophet PBUH being told to use the Quran as the measuring yard stick for judging in 548.

The Prophet PBUH did judge, and he used the Quran as the Law for his judgements. The Prophet PBUH did not use traditions as a form of judging guide.

                          Peace

My question is so simple but the answer is not as simple as you think

If you were in the time of the Prophet peace be upon him, and he said to you don't do this thing and do this particular thing and it's not existing in Qur'an, what will be your answer ?

1- I'll not do it because Quran that was revealed to you didn't mention this particular thing.

                            2- Can I know why .

3- I'll do whatever you asked my prophet, after all obeying you is obeying God.

And there is a possibility for the fourth answer from you guys with justification.

Of course its No. 3! hail People who choose other than that are just jealous!!

~ When Muslims disagreed with the prophet on an issue that did not seem like part of Islamic theology, they talked directly to him as it was the case with the military advise he received during the battle of Badr given by a companion who felt the Prophet's plan was not the best. The great Prophet thought about it, and yielded to the man's opinion.

~ When a woman heard an opinion from the Prophet that she did not agree with, she told him that, and gave her opinion. He did not agree with her, so she came the following day arguing her case again, and again. The Quran documented this interesting interaction in the chapter named "The Arguing Woman" (Al-Mujadilah, Chapter 581), not to reprimand her, but to reveal that actually God agreed with her opinion, the opinion she made publicly and repetitively with the Prophet, peace be upon him.

~ When a woman did not like what Omar, the second great civil leader, said during a Friday sermon, she did not keep her mouth shut. She stood up immediately, confronted him and proved her point by using a reference from the Quran. Omar, the great leader of an extensive Muslim empire, conceded with his famous statement The woman is right, Omar is wrong, reversing his opinion on the spot.
