Is there such a thing as "Prophetess"?

Peace
Can someone tell me exactly what distiniguishes between a prophet and a messenger? I know that Rashad says that a nabi is someone who brings scripture. Now, ff all the men in the Quran are prophets, then they all brought some scripture? He then says that rasool is one who just gives messages, doesnt necessarily bring scripture. If you are nabi, you are rasool. But if you are a rasool, it doesnt mean you are a nabi. Is that definition correct? Also, do you believe that there were Prophetess'?

Dear
This is the way these LIARS deceive the people and tamper the Holy Quran
All Nabi came with Scriptures (books)2213
All Rasools came with Scriptures(Books)
5725
Quran is Crystal clear.
His followers may to remove these Ayas from the Quran as he did with (9128,129)

So youre saying that Rasool and Nabi are both synonymous? Therefore, the usage of either word doesn't change the meaning of the ayat?
Peace
It changes it significantly. See the other thread.

They are not interchangeable, esp. when talking about negativity.

Surely these are synonymous and interchangeable.
Both of these terms have been used for the Holy Prophet PBUH.
These two roles cannot be separated because as I have mentioned the Ayaat which clearly mentione that both (Rasools/Nabis) are given "BOOKS" to convey Allah's message to the People. -
No.

Ouch Yusha, why is that not possible?

Allah knows best, though I suspect because being a Prophet is a very public thing, but women are not suppose to be in public. However, revelation can come to a woman as in the case with Pharoah's wife and virgin Mary, but they were not prophets, their revelations were personal.

Emphasis mine - Really? You're very condescending to women, why? rotfl
As for "virgin mary", I believe this was pretty public. 2 billion Christians tell me that it is public. So, when Mary has revelation while in a retreat, it is "personal". But of course, when Muhammad has revelation in his Hira cave, it is for all to see. Never mind that Mary's story is detailed in the Quran and Bible for almost all of humanity to see.

Throughout the Quran and the Torah, there are only male prophets.
That's not actually true, there are prophetesses in the Torah.

You misunderstood what I mean. The story of the revelations to these great women is well known. However, the nature of their revelations were personal, for example the Angel telling Mary that she will conceive Jesus, etc. However, if you look at the nature of the revelations to the prophets, their revelations exhorted them to preach the message and convey divine laws to their people. These kind of revelation never descend on women.

I mean when it lists the names like, Zacharia, Idris, Noah, etc. its always male names when its being repeated, unless Im mistaken. Again, does it call Mary or any other females Prophets or Messengers at all?
I can see what Yusha is saying, but again without the Quran stating whether its possible or not, Im just asking for opinions.
Peace
EDIT Didnt see the Torah part, sorry. Who are prophetess' in the Torah?

Ah. Got it.
I believe Christians would probably take issue with that though.

I dont know arabic.
If you take a secular look at it, it seems like there hasn't been a female prophet because ancient society wouldn't accept it.

I'll see if there are any good translator on the internet.
"What sent before you but men We revealed to ask people mentioned that you do not know"
That was the only one I could get results from (Google Beta translator) it dosent seem to me that the verse implies only men.
