Ramadan is here. How many will fast and how will you spend your time?

Peace Siki,
Dalukul shams is when the sun is touching the horizon or rubbing the horizon(when it is about to go down) where as Ghorubul shamas is when it has gone below the horizon , or we can say that it has disappeared below the horizon or has set.
Ghouroobul shams is the exact and precise parameter after which , according to you the layl starts, so why a clear and precise book creates this confusion by using the term layal ? when it had the option to use a much better criteria/term? where as it gives the precise parameter for starting the fast in the morning?Arabic words of the form "fu3ul", like "ghurub", "duluk", "sujud", "ruku3", etc. describe a process not a particular instant. It is like saying watching "the sun setting". You don't watch the sun setting only in the instant when it is below the horizon. You are watching the entire process, which starts when the sun is on the horizon and ends when it is completely below the horizon.
Peace,
Ayman

Ramadan Karim to everyone!
may you be blessed and uplifted this Ramadan, and able to study and pray with deeper clarity, God willing.
this is my first year fasting, and i am enjoying it very much. i take more time to read, study, reflect, and on occasion nap. ;D

So the next question is when does the scorching full-moon occur?
The hottest times of the year start after the summer solstice when the sun is at its highest point.
Peace Ayman
Presumably this means fasting times are different for the northern and southern hemispheres?

Yes.

When I said times I meant the month (as opposed to daily timings of fasting), and I assume you mean the same. How does this square with
2185, "Ramadan is the month during which the Quran was sent down, providing guidance for the people, clear teachings
Surely not?

Yes, that's what I meant, too. )How does this square with

It 'squares' just fine. I don't see a contradiction, unless I'm not clear on your question. Just like there's time difference of upto 24 hours in some parts of the world. Do you see a problem there? I realize what you're saying though, that one is a matter of hours, while the other is a matter of months. But the same logic should apply, don't you think? On the other hand, if you look at nature and seasons around the world, everything's almost the opposite between the northern and southern hemispheres. That would also apply to hunting seasons, etc. As being part of the 'restricted months'.

I think Roshan means that the month of fating is when the quraan was sent down. In the case we have two seperate months according to each hemisphere, which one is when the quraan was sent down?
Peace
Yes, this is exactly what I mean. Perhaps 'ramadan' (hot/heat etc) refers only to the location where the Quran was revealed (i.e. northern hemisphere), and hence one month for the world.

I understand the first part... but one month for the world? confused

I don't fast from food and drink due to a medical condition (Crohn's). But I abstain from the rest of the prohibited during the daylight. To make up for the food aspect- I donate money to some local food banks.
My husband isn't Muslim and doesn't fast- since I was diagnosed with Crohn's and advised against fasting he sometimes forgets that I am observing Ramadhan- the abstaining from food is a really large mark of Ramadhan! It can be comical when he forgets!

Peace Joie,
You said it can be comical when he forgets, aha so he tries to take you during daytimes(sexually) -[ ?
