Is there any proof that....

yeah because I really doubt that people actually believed the earth was flat. I mean, any good observer can notice the slight curve of the surface. I dunno
Yes, but until the last century didn't we (the current human race) also believe it was flat? Doesn't mean a thing, but it seems we're evolving as a human race (or devolving )
I'm sure the ancients aren't as dumb as they are made out to be.

'A little bit to the left'.

I don't think anyone in the last century believed the earth was flat.
But I really think that we grossly underestimate the ancient peoples. We like to think that they were dumb idiots who didn't know anything. The only thing that seperates us from them is tens of thousands of years, which sounds like a lot but it's nothing on the evolution calendar. People back then were just as smart as we are now. We just know more.
It annoys me when people see a scientific fact in the quran and go "there's noo waaayy people in the 7th century coulda known that." -
ancient people believed that the earth was flat?
Depends on which ancient peoples, I guess. Maybe you should examine their maps or something?
At least ancient Christians and ancient Hindus believe the earth is somewhat flat. The Christians believed the earth is shaped like a tabernacle, whereas the Hindus believe the earth is a disc supported on top of elephants standing on a giant turtle.
