It's not awkward in Arabic. People swear by thier moustache, thier beard, thier might etc... There is an abundance of this in Arabic literature, so it's not strange at least in Arabic. God in the Quran swears by some things just once, so the question of oddity should not arise.

Well, i think my shift manager example clearly pointed out the awkwardness. It is indeed awkward.
In English language? May be. In Arabic? Absolutely not. There are even Hadiths where God swear by Himself.

Where does he swear in the third person? That's what swearing by one's title is. You're not even swearing by yourself, you're swearing by your title and referring to yourself as someone else (third person). It's like me saying Arnold doesn't think so instead of saying I don't think so. We don't think so is OK because it's the majestic plural and really means I don't think so. But me saying Arnold doesn't think so, is schizophrenic.

May be according to you, but not according to Arabic language, and even some English people sometimes refer to themselves by third person. I heard many times on TV and movies.

Any of them makes sense, especially in Arabic, and even in English. I hear it someimes on TV.
