I wonder if you guys go to mosques and have Sunni or Shia friends. Do you guys hang around with other Muslims?

        Salam Mo,

To answer your question yes, I do have friends of other beliefs. I can get along with everybody, aslong as they show respect and don't 'agress'. Most of my familymembers are also sunni. Me and another familymember are the only ones who share the god alone/monotheistic belief.

What kind of experiences you all had with other Muslims?

I had positive and negative experiences. Some of the negative ones were that women still get degraded and get seperated from men when they're in groups in the same room. Men not shaking my hand, which I respected since it's part of their belief, but I still got offended, cause to me it's just a friendly and respectable way of introducing yourself. Muslims looking to me funny when they see me drinking water or chewing gum while it's the month of fasting.

Funny enough I don't experience a lot of positive things yet, since I noticed that I, a 'muslimah' with a different beliefsystem, still get discriminated because I'm, simply put, a "different" kind of 'muslimah'. I do get support from others of that same belief who notice that such things happen to me and try to back me up by claiming that it's my right to belief the way I want, although they don't agree with my beliefsystem, they still show respect. sun

Do you have religious discussions with other Muslims?

Yes, but I try to avoid it, because people tend to get agressive/mad/offended when I speak my mind, since I criticize all religious groups rituals and symbols. It doesn't mean that I don't respect their beliefsystem, but that I just don't agree.

        peace

        Latifah

            I am curious.

            Salam.

I go to the sunni mosque but only to pray. Most of them know me, they have seen me perform ablution, pray and disagree with me.

Now they are trying to ban me from the mosque, they want to make me stop coming to the mosque which is not a problem for me.

Intersting fact i have been banned from the States, twice.
i've been banned from this forum, for a week
i am about to be banned from the mosque.

I guess it's only a matter of time when human race deports me to Mars and banns me for ..... well, when the Mars makes 14 rounds, ...... rotfl rotfl rotfl rotfl rotfl rotfl rotfl rotfl rotfl rotfl

            Kidding.
Saturn is kinda cute planet, got rings and i would like to visit some of Saturn's moons or Jupiter's.

            Peace.

              Salaam

Exactly. However its great to have a discussion with them on it.

I think what he meant is that all they do is read it in Arabic and get nothing out of it. For example, a lot of my friends dont even know what is in the Quran because all they do is read it in Arabic. All they know is what they are told from other people, which is generally Hadith related things.

              Was Salaam

Just reciting in arabic without understanding what they ask. Haha i can't pray like that, because i just feel like it's useless, so it's just better to learn arabic or something like that, then pray

i go to paltalk a lot, there a lot of hadith followers there and me following only quran is often a topic there where they try to explain to me in many ways that i need hadith and i think one called me a kafir, hehe

i have good experiences with them sometimes, but there are bad ones too, since mostly we debate about my views and theirs. they don't seem to care about even considering looking into my views, why i believe this way or looking at some sites that talk about following only quran.

I have Sunni friends. We usually talk crap about each other. I do not get into the holidays like they do.

Yes I have / hang out / make friends with the Sunnis (Including the minority and always supressed by the majority sects such as Ahmadiya), the Shias and many others. I also go to their mosque. I also hang out / make friends with the Jews, Christians, Atheist, Hinduism, Buddhism and many others. I also have visited their Synagogue, Churches, Temples and also read their scriptures. The more I learned of their cultures (sectarian cultures), the more I see the red-line / commonality between them and also understand the differences between them.

No problem for me since I DO NOT HAVE ANY SECT.
And I DO THANKS GOD for that..

                      Salam / Peace

I do go the mosque sometimes. I have sunni friends and family and I love them.
Usually we dont talk about religion, and when I'm with family, I usually keep my mouth shut.
I used to try to tell them that "that's not what the quran says" but I realized that I can't tell other people what their religion is. But I am an asshole sometimes and bring up touchy issues with my friends.
I don't have any friends who are really fundamentally religious, so I don't find that I need to have a talk with them about stuff. If we do get into a religious discussion, I'm all for it, though.

No i dont, except when someone died and for diplomatic reasons i go in and pretend to pray inside. Unfortunately families do not always understand our religious beliefs. To avoid problems, it's better to pretend, and lie. But apart from deaths, i never go to the "mosques" because there are none that support God Alone. I do have sunni friends, they know my belief but we dont debate.
