Analysing the quran-methods.......................?
-
Salaams all,
A critical thing i came accross might help some people.The usual routine for analysing quran is to see the meaning of a word or group of words to see how its used in variouse places in the quran.But only flaw with this method is if there exists a mistranslation in one place its obviouse it may also be present in other places in the quran - according to the picture in the mind of the translator and whether he is of cristian ,jewish or of some other background.
It may be better to use prestigouse dictionaries and according to the context of the verse/s the right words could be selected - a number of opinions would we entailled for this.

Aidh = Support/strength/might/authority.
According to lanes and the Quranic dictionary.
But traditionalist usually translate Aidh as Hand.
I can't see how they got that translation.
So intead of cutting of support /authority of the thief they introduced the cutting of a thiefshand.

Usually its translated as
........cut off their hands and their feet from opposite.......
according to lanes its
.......cut off their support and their misfortune from opposite........
Its worth using the dictionary rather then the traditional trnslations as some people are allways using i think -sometimes anyways.
