      Salaams Maz,

this is guide for righteous people

A book for a doctor- will no doubt contain material regarding his specialism.
      A book for a cleaner will ...................................................................

      e.t.c

we people are such nut crackers that we think a book- for the righteous people, will talk about the big bang, when are we going to start using the God given common sense?

      Sorry but no disrespect meant.

      God Bless. confused

        Mazhar,

I read your article. You seem to possess deep knowledge of the book and an elagant style of writing. I am no position of critically commenting what you have written.

One question springs up in my small mind.

        You said

"Then came the first night of this newly created universe which was dark. And after the first night, the first day after the night and the second day of creation of our universe was brought out which was hot and bright."

Day and night are associated with the Sun. How can a universe have a day and night. I know the book has used the word "yum" more in the sense of "periods". But you have used the words "day" and "night" for the whole universe rather than the earth.

        My another 2 cents.

        You said

"if we can manage to reach its today's last boundary/limit it would have gone farther the moment we reach the point we thought is the ending point. It is an endless pursuit; this is the limitation of our capability of vision and intellect. We will always end up in a closed street."

Today's scientifically accepted notion is that there is no boundry of the expanding universe. It curves. If you travel straight you will be back to where you started from. This inference is based on Einstien's theory.

          Dear Explorer,

Thanks for carefully going through the article. There seems a little misunderstanding or perhaps I have not been able to explain which created some confusion.
Grand Quran says that the earth was spread the next day i.e. the first day after the first night of newly created universe.

          "He raised " " of the Sky and proportioned her. And made dark her night and brought out her shining/hot day. And the Earth, after that hot/shining day, He spread/stretched/unfolded her. He took out water from her, water earlier placed in her and her pasture" {Refer 7928-31}

The Earth was not in the spread shape/continents therefore the question of time difference is not there by that point in time.

There is no doubt that the word ?yaum? does give the perception of time/period but whenever it is used with reference to night this exclusively means the time from sunrise to sunset and the night from sunset to sunrise. The day and night relates to the Earth.

If We write this sentence by adding what is in the parentheses it might clear the thing "Then came the first night of this newly created universe which was dark. And after the first night, the first day after the night and the second day of creation of our universe was brought out {on earth}which was hot and bright."

That is in relation to the earth. After Hubble it is a know and admitted fact that the universe is expanding uniformly.
I have avoided indulging into scientific speculations since the scientists themselves are yet at a very early stage to say something with certainity what exactly happened at or immediately after the zero time. I have tried to portray what the words of the Book are telling. Today if we know that such and such galaxy is at that world line but when we reach that point it would not be at that point since the upper skies are expanding constantly.
Therefore we cannot get out of the "egg shell" if we take our universe on the minimum scale as an egg. And we all know what happens if the chick cant make getting out of the "sky" of his universe at the proper moment.

Where did you find that the "lowest heaven" translated into the atmosphere of Earth in 4112? Why is it taken that "ard" means the solid mass alone?

                Salaams Maz,

I wholeheartedly disagree. It is not only a book for "righteous people" but also those who think, reflect, and understand. The average person does not think or reflect or understand the universe and nor is it their plan to, but for some others, definitely not. What is the meaning of the commandment in 2920, or is it there to fill up space or sound good when recited? Please don't negate the book according to your wish that it is for the common person alone and none else. A book for mankind will contain elements addressing all segments of mankind and in this book is every example, is that just a space filling statement also?

It is a book if you wanna be a Righteous person - that is all.

Unfortunately the world has to do research to find out other things- black holes or about a pen.

And Muslims need to sweat and ponder like the rest of the world if they wish to get ahead Br.

And all this gets easier when and if you are righteous.

Or do you think humans will get things handed to them on a plate without effort?

And there are plenty of Ayah's mistranslated in the quran to make your or my head spin.

                  God Bless All.

Do you believe it is as simple as the book spoon feeding just guidance to people and nothing else?

It is a book if you wanna be a Righteous person - that is all.

It is a book for mankind (41), not specifically righteous persons. It contains every example (305, and every example here is for mankind (1854).

Unfortunately the world has to do research to find out other things- black holes or about a pen.

And one can magically avoid doing any research to follow the guidance in the book alone? To grasp the full, clear message of the Quran, one needs a knowledge of Arabic (1337, 413) and sufficient faculties of thinking, reasoning, analysing, etc. (no specific reference). Research is unavoidable.

And Muslims need to sweat and ponder like the rest of the world if they wish to get ahead Br.

                    Irrelevant.

And all this gets easier when and if you are righteous.

                    Irrelevant.

Or do you think humans will get things handed to them on a plate without effort?

Nothing is being handed on a plate.

And there are plenty of Ayah's mistranslated in the quran to make your or my head spin.

And there are twice as many clear ayat in the quran to make your or my head explode out of amazement.

The purpose of the quran is very broad. It is not a science book, it is not a law book, it is THE book.

Saying its statements about the real world are irrelevant/insignificant takes away any semblance of falsifiability from it.

                        Peace MZ,

I don't think anyone is arguing that Quran is a 'science' book or a 'health' book. But if it contains things in it contradictory to real life, without a shadow of a doubt that is.... Example If it said the earth is flat... It couldn't possibly be divine in nature/origin.

And there are plenty of Ayah's mistranslated in the quran to make your or my head spin.

So it's the Quran's fault that the humans are well... humans? No matter what, no matter what, no matter what... There will ALWAYS be mistranslations.

                        And the latter is subjective.

                          Salaams DA, All,

I believe the quran is great and can sort things out for a lot of people- but is grossly mistranslated by Christians in the 11th century who where the main translators and of the then Arabs as well who then took it up as was explained to them- but thats my theory.

                          But you all have your understandings- here is one of mine;

In the following verse the word to look at mainly is ?mihadan? and I believe it comes from Hada page 588 Qd by Omar.

And Aradza isn't earth p19 ,but is coming from the root Radziya p213.

It is about something that guides you- its nothing about the earth as such.

the rest ayah's where earth occurs are likewise.

                              Salaams DA, All,

In the following verse the word to look at mainly is ?mihadan? and I believe it comes from Hada page 588 Qd by Omar.

Both of verses are as below

                              786

                              43

Neither of these two words "Mihaad" and "Mahd" are derived from "Hadaa"
                              Their root verb is "mahada".
Did you see both words under "hadaa" in Qd of Omar Mannan ?
Consequently both of your translations are not correct.

                              Salaams DA, All,

The very strange thing is you are condemning Arabs that they could not translate it but the way you are finding the roots of these verbs ??
Similar is your research about "Earth"

but is grossly mistranslated by Christians in the 11th century who where the main translators and of the then Arabs as well who then took it up as was explained to them- but thats my theory.

Do you have a reference to this 'theory'? And undeniable evidence?

Well its not a 100% proof- but most of the islamic world started following the findings of the west.....easy if it made money......which it did.

The first Western translation -- into Latin in 1143 by the English monk Robert of Ketton -- was a belated recognition by the then crusading Catholic church of the need to understand the enemy, and was intended as a refutation.

The manuscripts concerned have been linked to Toledo which was an important centre for translation from the Arabic. However, Peter's team appear to have met further north, possibly in La Rioja. The project translated a number of texts relating to Islam (known collectively as the "corpus toletanum&quot. They include the Apology of al-Kindi; and most importantly the first-ever translation into Latin of the Arabic Qur'an (the "Lex Mahumet pseudoprophete&quot. Robert of Ketton was the main translator, Peter of Toledo is credited for planning and annotating the collection, and Peter of Poitiers helped to polish the final Latin version. The team also included Robert of Ketton's friend Herman of Carinthia and a Muslim called Mohammed. The translation was completed in either June or July 1143, in what has been described as ?a landmark in Islamic Studies. With this translation, the West had for the first time an instrument for the serious study of Islam.?
Peter used the newly translated material in his own writings on Islam, of which the most important are the Summa totius heresis Saracenorum (The Summary of the Entire Heresy of the Saracens) and the Liber contra sectam sive heresim Saracenorum (The Refutation of the Sect or Heresy of the Saracens). In these works Peter portrays Islam as a Christian heresy that approaches paganism, and he explains to St. Bernard that his goal is "ut morem illum patrum sequerer, quo nullam unquam suorum temporum vel levissimam (ut sic dicam) haeresim silendo praeterirent, quin ei totis fidei viribus resisterent et scriptis ac disputationibus esse detestandam ac damnabilem demonstrarent." That is, "following the custom of the Fathers, who not once in their time, not in the slightest, refrained from silencing heresy (as I shall call it), but rather resisted it with all the strength of their faith, and showed it, through writings and arguments, to be detestable and damnable."
Yet while his interpretation of Islam was still basically negative, it did manage in ?setting out a more reasoned approach to Islam?through using its own sources rather than those which were the products of the hyperactive imagination of some earlier Western Christian writers.? Although this alternative approach was not widely accepted or emulated by other Christian scholars of the Middle Ages, it did achieve some influence among a limited number of Church figures, including Roger Bacon.

                                        Salaams.

                                          Where did you find that the "lowest heaven" translated into the atmosphere of Earth in 4112? Why is it taken that "ard" means the solid mass alone?{OPF}

                                          Brother OPF,

I didn't say this since Quran has not said like that. "lowest heaven" I don't translate sky as "heaven". Nor the sky of earth has been called atmoshpere of Earth. Those seven layers of earth are described somewhere else. It is clarified on the threads relating to Kokab. Earth was not declared as sold mass {alone}. But as against gasseous sky it is solid mass and there are other things on/in it.
