One of the most basic laws in the universe is the Second Law of Thermodynamics. This states that as time goes by, entropy in an environment will increase. Evolution argues differently against a law that is accepted EVERYWHERE BY EVERYONE. Evolution says that we started out simple, and over time became more complex. That just isn?t possible UNLESS there is a giant outside source of energy supplying the Earth with huge amounts of energy. If there were such a source, scientists would certainly know about it.

Before I post what the person's response to that was.. Can anybody guess the fatal flaw in that argument?

You know brother, there is a certain amount stupidity that gets your blood boiling, but then there is a certain point at which your heart simply melts for these fools and you pray to god that the likes of UNICEF and Red Cross establish departments that you could donate to, so that these Homer Simpson types could get a couple of neurons.

              Peace,

Hey I was having a conversation with someone who's 20 years old., and is in enrolled in college and openly admits his blind belief in the bible (due to his parents). And his belief that the earth is only 5,000 years old (see last sentence). I was having a conversation with someone about if the earth was 5,000 frreaking years old! And whether there's been an account of a virgin birth. And whether the field of science is 'trustworthy' at all. Evolution, carbon dating etc... I told him he shouldn't be taking any medication then (wrong advice? ) .Hey Naddem, I am just like you, I was like, you got to be kidding me?! giveup Hell I was even coming off as an atheist/agnostic. But I am not! rotfl

Anyways ... for those interested the response to the quote mentioned in the thread starter

You should be laughing quite hard right now. I know I was. The funny thing is that this person is exactly right about his science. Life on Earth couldn't function without some giant influx of energy. We'd die a cold, lonely death without it (just like the universe will eventually). But we fortunately do have energy coming in, and us scientists do indeed know about it (as does everyone else on the planet).

In case you don't get it, it's the sun.

That's it, you should need a license to procreate.

Sorry but that screams of urban legend. People are stupid but not in that fashion.

Oh those, there are plenty of them everywhere you go. Mostly everyone "religious" carries those viewpoints. You must be baffled by those types but I would be adding +1 to my list.

well, unfortunately, dumb a**es are found in every camp. Some scientists and skeptics are as blind and rigid as some religious people...

Whats even worse, if he is a creationist, that means that he believes in a god, right?

UNLESS there is a giant outside source of energy supplying the Earth with huge amounts of energy.

I see two conundrums in his statements. Quite funny. Alhamdu illah.

                          Peace

Wow! That's almost as bad as the folks who think the Earth is flat and the universe is geocentric ;D
