Actually it doesn't say "you alone", it says just "you". But at any rate, as I see it, it doesn't matter. Nothing happens that God has not diposed, foreseen and arranged, so it is of Him that we should seek help, because He is the own who can, and even if we ask comebody for help, it is of God that we ask that help, because nothing can happen without Him making it happen.

      Salaams All,

The quran is grossly mistranslated- I believe.

So it is of Him that we should seek help

So do we just dream to get help from him?
Do only people who ask get his help or do you get his help even without asking?

It isn?t about getting help from God at all; it is about getting what ever we want by giving/ doing good freely or in exchange ? with a smile.

It is about setting up the perfect bond / relationship with mankind in general that described by the attributes.

The first two being Raman and Raheem- the description of the one perfect relationship for humanity to get anything it seeks.

So we must only seek everything by through this relationship alone and not by stealing/cheating or any other indecent way ? I think.

      God Bless.

        Peace,

        In my opinion,

"You alone we seek for help" is referring to not asking help of the dead prophets etc..., but the living God.

          peace

how does God help if not by sending humans?

if you break your arm, do you just sit there asking God for help waiting for Him to appear to you and fix you or does he send a human (doctor) to help you out?

how did God deliver a message to humans if not by sending a human?

although sure, He can find other ways

What do the words "and from You alone we seek help" in Sura Fatiha mean exactly? Obviously we cannot live our lives without seeking help from other people. Is this in reference to spiritual guidance, in which case, one could deduce that we shouldn't even be asking eachother about religion? That seems unlikely too. Or does it just mean that whenever we do seek religous guidance from other people, that guidance should be from God's message?

Your answer is hidden in the same Sura....and here it is....

001.005 Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek.

001.006 Show us the straight way,

001.007 The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, those whose (portion) is not wrath, and who go not astray.

You need to be on their way to be on the straight way......

perhaps we should take the word "alone" out of the free-minds translation, if indeed it doesn't mean "from you alone we seek for help" as it says.

Perhaps you should also take your parents out of the world too since God alone is from where you came but instead he want you to love them for being your parents just like he wanted you to follow the interpertation or understanding of Quran by his righteous people and thats what he mentioned in this first verse but off course you don,t care about what he guide you too but your own interpretation.....

040.056 Those who dispute about the signs of Allah without any authority bestowed on them,- there is nothing in their breasts but (the quest of) greatness, which they shall never attain to seek refuge, then, in Allah It is He Who hears and sees (all things).

Why are you being antagonistic? There's a difference in translations and I think we should try to find out what the correct one is. If you wanna take everything as is, then do what you want, but don't try making people feel bad for wanting to understand something or getting an accurate translation.

Do you think for 1400 years peoples were just doing nothing and were just making sense out of the translation....

Most medicine are bitter but it do brought you the cure....my making you feel bad may hurt for this while but may be you will come out for being still stuck in an era which has already passed 1400 years ago.....

Its like you are in the era of Mohammed with his Quran but with out him and if you think for a while.....will the book make sense to you if he is not there... hmm

i don,t think so but you are allowed to think what you think but yes if my words were too harsh then i do apologies peace

As for as the understanding of Islam.....it has nothing to do with your sect but it has

It's obvious that the multitude of translations out there are not all consistent with eachother. Trying to figure out the accurate translation is not a problem of the past- it is an ongoing problem. If it weren't then why is there a free-minds translation of the Qur'an in the first place?

                        Salam

Translation is not the problem but its the interpretation which is the biggest problem.I will not say that you should think about a sect but you should think of the right interpretation.

You can easily get the literal meaning right by comparing two or three or even five translation of Quran.....but the thing is first we need to clearly why we need the Quran in the first place and for that the very first Hadith from Bukhari will open up the way....

                        Volume 1, Book 1, Number 1

                        Narrated 'Umar bin Al-Khattab

I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended. So whoever emigrated for worldly benefits or for a woman to marry, his emigration was for what he emigrated for."

Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek.

first we need to get our intention right .....

057.028 O ye that believe! Fear Allah, and believe in His Messenger, and He will bestow on you a double portion of His Mercy He will provide for you a Light by which ye shall walk (straight in your path), and He will forgive you (your past) for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Now you can take many messenger as you want but the one who Allah select to bring Quran was Mohammed Saw and that is a fact which no one can deny and thats why only his interpretation should be followed ...but for that we should not forget our role in our life...we have to seek his interpretation through the very first hadith and thats to fix our intention.....we need Islam for this only....

Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek.

                          .

                          You alone we seek help

We will stand by our Oath " There are no gods but God "
And that we won't commit shirk to any of your names or attributes

For eg., if I need knowledge, I stand by the Oath thus
There are no knowledgeables but the Most knowledgeable

                          Likewise

There is no teacher but the TEACHER
There is no protector but the PROTECTOR
There is no healer but the HEALER
There is no provider but the PROVIDER
There is no forgiver but the FORGIVER
There is no alim but the ALIM
There is no giver but the RAHMAN
There is no helper but the HELPER
There is none to seek but the ONE TO SEEK

In this way apply the KALIMA in real life and lead the life of IBRAHIM SALLALLAAHE ALAIHIWASALLAM,
for he was not among the mushriks. This is the meaning of the phrase YOU ALONE WE SEEK HELP

                          .

                            Peace,

I know what I say doesn't mean much here, especially when I start speaking about Arabic grammar. But the word used is Iyaaka. Iyaa is accusative, and gives emphasis to 'you.' In english it would be like putting an exclamation mark on the sentence. The accusative is mostly manifested in nouns as the tanween 'an' at the end. To illustrate the difference sukootun means "silence" and sukootan means "Silence!!" having the strength of a command. If anyone wants to know more, you can PM me. I don't have time for arguments on any more public forums here. I'm only concerning myself with those who really want to know.

                            Godbless,
                            Anwar

                              Peace be upon you Bluerose,

God is the one consciousness that is within all beings. So any "help" that comes from anywhere essentially comes from God. The God is at the core of all good. The Human interference with the laws is what corrupts to bad. Anyway, we take this further and see that Help from God comes with patience and "salaat" or thr process of programming(reprogramming) the subconcious. The God's help comes through the subconcious where the POWER resides. Does not your heart beat and hair grow and all of the functions that God is already managing for you come from the subconcious? Or are you controlling them? The God can also manage the affairs of your life the same way but we have to learn how to program this feature....please go to salaat thread for more discussion on that.
