Any further comments I make on him, I'll send you in a PM. I don't want to make it seem like I'm bashing him, because in that case the defenders of the "bashed" will rush in to bash me back and tell me how wrong I am for telling the truth in my frank (and by the way very controlled manner).
I may not send you anything, because frankly if you've read his Arab conspiracy or anything that he writes and believe it, well . . . enough said. As for the linguistics, people who avoid linguistic specifics usually don't know them, and will rely more on purely personal, traditional or mystic interpretations.

I read the article and really came away unimpressed with it. I think his points are off and he mistranslates. I also think his demeanor towards those who practise sunnism/etc. is very harsh. Allah tells us not to make fun of those type of people because they may in their ignorance degrad Allah; which we see them do a lot when we argue with them about following Al Quran only. Obviously they are not then aware of how they are degrading or bad mouthing Allah and His messenger at that time, but nevertheless they are still doing it unconsciously.
I think articles like this one take away from legitimate arguments and articles done in good taste that show how sunnism/etc. have distorted the true message of Al Quran. I think we can point out the fallacies without being degrading; and that we also have a responsibility to do that. Allah knows best.
