Is Dancing A Sin?

Respectfully.Well, i live with some Indians and they have these songs and dances which are beautiful judging by the choreography but the moves are .... very seductive. Forget Britney, Beyonce or even Mya. Indian women who dance have invested in their dance more then Christina Aguilera, Madonna or even Jessica Simpson.

If u find the dances seductive then u dont have to watch it bro. The truth is many things can be seductive depending on the mind of the beholder.

When one is seriously ill and bedridden can we sing and dance around the patient?
Our lives in this world is as serious as this instance. We cannot afford to forget Allah and dance
For our hearts should tremble at the very mention of His Name;
So tremble or dance?
Music or reflection of His verses?Why should you forget Allah in order to dance? Why not be happy Allah exists, is there, is real and we are his creation, his worshippers? In fact, otherwise unhappy people like very much to dance. That is something nobody can take from them. Dance and sing, and rejoice in a ray of sun, in a drop of rain, in a touch of breeze... Why grudge what is joyful and caresses the body and the soul? Is not Allah al Wadud, al Latif arrahman arrahim, al badi3...? Should we be tearful because this world is a test. Which of His wonders should we deny? For which of His bounties should we not jump with joy, not be grateful. Surely bedridden people and those who suffer more and much more than the average should have others' compassion and consideration, but how being mournful can make their burden lighter? Even bedridden people can smile and laugh, and even in wheelchair people can dance...

In order to correctly assert the response one must define what type of dancing, when the dancing would occur, and in front of whom? There are a multiplexity of dynamics that go into play which could alter the answer. More information is needed. The lyrical content also would come into play as well as the attire of the person dressing, etc. etc.

Sinful or not?Obviously spouse dancing for a spouse is okay.
I prefer Eminem, he speaks the truth when he sings.
There are several Slovenian singers who sing only to ryme the words and to show their hardly dressed bodies.

Is this a sin?If you are listening to a song in the privacy of your own home that does not contain lyrics in disagreement to God's commandments, then I, at current situation am not aware of any laws or commandments that find this impermissable.
Let's say you organise a party where men and women come together to dance and you also participate.
Sinful or not?Why would anyone gather for any purpose other than remembering God? The logistics of this situation are needed to further clarify...and dependant on the answer I can ascertain...are the people at the party believers? are they dressing according to Gods laws? Is the music talking of sexual inuendo? Are the ideas expressed promoting God and His Deen?
Is the music in violation of Gods laws or does it not promote betterment of ones self? Is the purpose of this gathering for the sake of Allah?Obviously spouse dancing for a spouse is okay.
What one does in the privacy of ones home as long as it does not violate Gods laws..seems permissable, but check with Gods Word for further clarification. Allahu Ellem

The Quran makes mention of using the best speech..if a person honestly assert that Eminems' lyrics are of the best speech, I think he should reevaluate the meaning of "best"!

It is not advisable to ascertain if something is Halal of Haram beyond the scope of the Quran. Your asking such questions can be a test for some beleivers. BEWARE! Seek God as Guide not those of us here. I would advise you to rephrase questions in the format of obtaining support from the belivers as to the location of the Quranic verses that give evidence in reference to the specific topic studying.
And ask your Lord to increase you in knowledge.
May the Lord forgive all of the beelivers.

When I remember Allah, I fear my short comings and my impurity that I believe not in Him totally without associating something, some one etc. I am just saying what I am and my posting is my true self.It is not even exchange of ideas.

These were the exact verses I had in mind. I do not think the particular verse is limited to dancing. I think it is very clear do not ....and they (F) do not beat/strike with their (F) feet to be known what they (F) hide from their decoration/beauty ....
I think this verse means just what it says..
so therefore if your form of dance require you to do the above then it wouldnt be advisable to do it in a public place.
And as far as the knowledge I have which is limited..due humanness..
Since when is dancing considered "humble"?
Aren't the belivers supposed to be "humble"?
If you are indeed humble, why would you want to dance in public thus drawing attention to yourself. thus the exact opposite of humble, right?

It varies. When addressing certain issues like providing for your spouse, Allah addresses men. When addressing certain issues about clothing, Allah addresses women. When addressing some issues, Allah addresses both. There are many cases of all of these. Sometimes it is clear because of the arabic terms used that denote a man or a woman. Sometimes it is not clear from the arabic because those addressed could be in the plural form, or which the plural for men in many words, also can be used for plural of both men and women. Hence in those situations, only the context of what is being said will tell you if only all men are being addressed, or if both men and women are being addressed. Allahu alim.

Yes, we have to be humble all the time and yes we have to think of God all the time, we also have to pray on time and every day, i'm aware of this and very appreciative to God The Most Merciful that He has guided me on the Straight Way.
