    Salam all

Apologies if these videos have already been posted (I couldn't find them anywhere on here). I stumbled upon these a while back and just wanted to share them.

They basically show Christians, Jews and Buddhists praying in a similar fashion to how Muslims pray.

http//www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aHWASyMjwg&feature=related - This ones a little bit long.

So basically I wanted to ask from watching these videos do people believe that Islam has copied these practices from previous religions? has the practice of prostration always been around and there was no need for Muslims to change it? Or are there other explanations?

    Salam

    Yesar

      Salam,

I have not seen the videios, but from the Quran we know that Salat has been presecribed to people since the time of the prophet Abraham - so it would not be surprizing to find similarities in the method of facing the Qibla and prostrating.

Same source, same religion, from adam to the end of the world , Abraham didn't invent salat, he performed it as commanded, just like the ones before him, from the first human .
