    Some Muslims argue that it is referenced in the Quran about the necessity of having a leader to follow - as in signing up to someone who is carrying the torch.

    Can anyone shed any further light on this. Where in the Quran does it mention this - or otherwise what was the real context it was given in?

    Personal logic tells me that all humans are infallible and we should not feel that we need to follow someone but follow our own conscience. That being the meaning of following God alone.

      Minor correction, you mean fallible. Infallible means that they make no mistakes.
