    peace all,

Someone asked me for advice recently and they felt my reply helped them so I thought I may as well share it, as others may find it helpful too. Of course, the likely reason why I was able to help was that I could relate to the problem, as I'm sure many of you can too. It was to do with one's internal struggle with life/faith/God.

It is natural to have ups and downs in iman/trust/faith. Even messengers/prophets felt hopeless, erred, struggled within themselves etc. We are human and the greatest battle is fought within, never forget that.
You know, when I feel down I try to remember that God does not burden a soul with more than they can carry, and if you think what that implies, it is pretty amazing. If God has made you incline to Him but at the same time you find yourself in a situation where you feel it is consuming you, bringing you down, it can also mean that God has trust in you that YOU can carry that weight.

Sometimes I think of it like a sculptor stripping away the inessentials to reveal the true form of a thing. If you experience trying situations, sometimes the chizel is hard to take, I feel it too, everyone does, but to take the chizel is the only way to reveal the true form of a thing. What you reveal is up to you. Make sure it's beautiful, and that leads me to what is beautiful? and the other part of what you said. Chapter 107 clearly shows that to acknowledge in the deen is to do good deeds. So if you do not feel close to God, continue to acknowledge in the deen, continue to walk the path. Often when we are on a journey, we do not know how close we are to the destination, but with every step we get closer, there is no doubt, as long as we know we are on the right path.... and we have already been told what the right path is. Follow this path, and put your trust in God and you will get closer to Him.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

      Brilliant post Wakas.

Just to add my 2 cents. The way I see it is also that you've got to experience the downside of life so you know what it is so you can work against it and experience the opposite spectrum to it.

Also each one of us has a purpose in this life like an army...not everyone can be a general or captain but each one in the army is working together under commandments and thats where we all work together for a purpose in this life and try to evolve as much as possible with what God has given us and instructed us with.

      PEACE

        Great posts guys!

Something I've recently experienced, without getting into too many details...a situation was looking very grim - in fact, the worst that I could recall. But I couldn't let myself get down. I was asked, "how can you keep such a good attitude?" And I replied without hesitating, without thinking, really, "I have 2 choices keep fighting, or give up." And within a couple of days, the situation reached as bad as it could possibly get, motivating us to dig deeper, try harder, be creative and innovative in finding ways to overcome. And then like magic, everything came together - better than we could have imagined.

In a way, life can be like a catapult. The more resistence you apply, the more you have to bend, and the closer you are (seemingly) to breaking, but the farther you can be launched if you believe in the mechanism.

        peace

Terrific posts guys. Here is what i think whenever i feel down

I believe this the point of no return for us. Nothing can stop us unless its destined. We all have a special purpose in life. Something great, something much greater than our everyday tasks and struggles. I believe every one of us has a unique talent inside of us, and we will discover it, if we search deeply enough. I have this huge force of energy inside of me that wants drop itself into the ocean of possibilities and start to contribute more than ever. The possibilities are almost endless for every one of us, as long as we keep an open mind and don?t limit ourselves. I have come to point where I?m putting the ego away, and trying to live for others as much as possible. The enjoyment we get from teaching and helping others, is the best enjoyment. I know that none of us can do everything, but everyone of us can do something. And we can make a difference. A fighter never gives up, even in the darkest nights. Nothing in this life can be hard since this life is an illusion.

          Quran 2860
And anything that is given to you is only the materialism of this world, and its glitter. And what is with God is far better, and everlasting.

We should focus on the hereafter instead of this life. If we focus on the hereafter, everything would be easier

          Quran 632
This worldly life is nothing more than games and a diversion, and the abode of the Hereafter is far better for those who are righteous...

          Quran 2860
And anything that is given to you is only the materialism of this world, and its glitter. And what is with God is far better, and everlasting...

          Peace,
          David
