Quran sent for only a certain people?

I found this on wikipedia
http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semitic_languageFor instance, the root k-t-b, (dealing with "writing" generally) yields in Arabic
kataba "he wrote" (masculine)
kutiba "it was written" (masculine)
kutibat "it was written" (feminine)
kitb- "book" (dash - here shows end of stem before various case endings)
kutub- "books" (plural)
kutayyib- "booklet" (diminutive)
kitbat- "writing"
ktib- "writer" (masculine)
ktibat- "writer" (feminine)
kuttb- "writers"
katabat- "writers"
maktab- "desk" or "office"
maktabat- "library" or "bookshop"
maktb- "written" (participle) or "postal letter" (noun)and the same root in Hebrew (where it appears as k-t-ḇ
katati "I wrote"
katata "you (m) wrote"
kata "he wrote" or "reporter" (m)
katteet "reporter" (f)
kattaa "article" (plural katavot ת
mita "postal letter" (plural mitaim ם
mitaa "writing desk" (plural mitaot ת
ktoet "address" (plural ktoot ת
kta "handwriting"
katu "written" (f ktua ה
hiti "he dictated" (f hitia ה
hitkatte "he corresponded (f hitkata ה
nita "it was written" (m)
nitea "it was written" (f)
kti "spelling" (m)
tati "prescript" (m)
meutta "a person on one's mailing list" (meutteet f)
ktubba "ketubah (a Jewish marriage contract)" (f) (note b here, not ḇ"For example, the root b-y- in Arabic has the meaning of "white" as well as "egg", just as in Maltese bajda means "white" (f. sing.) and also "egg", whereas in Hebrew it only means "egg". The root l-b-n means "milk" in Arabic, but the color "white" in Hebrew. The root l--m means "meat" in Arabic, but "bread" in Hebrew."
Can you figure out the root words of "ALMsyyh Raboka Al 'Azzaam"? Are root word alway just the constanants? l-m-s-h = ALMsyyh? r-b-k =Raboka? Is there a dictonary to look up the original old time meaning of the word?
Is there a book, website you would recommend for me to learn more about this? Thanks.

Yeah sure?

There is a Quranic verse that states "ALM Sabbeh Raboka Al Azzaam", which translates as "ALM praise your glorified God".
The phrase is nowhere in Qur'an and the person suggesting the above is a LIAR.

salaam,
please consider this
the Rasul is within each and everyone of us. in al-Qur'an It is referred to as Muhammad. (please do not confuse this with Muhammad the prophet.) when the Rasul in that person is fully activated, or active, the person becomes a Rasul.
usual steps
-
a person ponders about God. (ponder about Ibrahim. he started by questioning God, and in the end he concluded logically about God.) a person must start by asking for guidance. guidance will not come to those who has never asked for it. so, ask God for guidance.
-
Jibril reveals the guidance, by God's leave. (read 297). what Jibril reveals may be something new, or a verification for what that particular person has gathered in understanding.
-
the person tries to understand the messages (if new to him) revealed by Jibril. then the person gathers an understanding, which may be correct or otherwise. the person must perform saum - refraining from speech (the person has not understood it well) and sex (a sex partner is a barrier between the person and God), best done in seclusion. thus have some respect for God. and meditate. the person must remember God with a restrained sense while God is 'teaching' or 'guiding' him.
-
the Rasul then verifies the person's understanding, or reprimand the person either for doubting or doing to the contrary of what the person has gathered in understanding.
-
the Rasul delivers good news and warnings. so be aware. many people have declared themselves to be prophets or rasuls, but observe the message, and disposition. there are a few verses describing the disposition of people 'adhering' the Rasul. when a person with activated Rasul delivers, the person may be referred to as Rasul (pl. rusul). at other times, the person is 'mursalin' or 'those who relate received messages'. 'mursalin' may be asked about what he/she has delivered, whether there was any addition, subtractions, defects, etc., while the Rasul will not be asked.
-
a Rasul can be in timbuktu, or oslo, since the Rasul will deliver the news and warnings in a language that the person is familiar with. the safest way to experience (activating the Rasul within, or getting Jibril to start revealing, by God's leave) is by seeking guidance from God, say when some wants to know the meaning of a particular verse of al-Qur'an. when learning al-Qur'an, don't forget to ask for God's guidance first. it should be the start. and cooperate closely, and patiently. a person will only gather an understanding as much as what God has taught him. it is God's guidance we are seeking, so ask only God, or His Rasul, not human beings or jinns.
-
Muhammad the Rasul within each and everyone of is the One God refers to as 'My Soul' after designing Adam, when He said, "And I breathe into it My Soul."
just care to consider. ponder. don't be too quick to conclude, either in the positive or negative. God shall hold you responsible for what you have concluded in your minds.
and btw, all this is an internal experience. the voice, if one is lucky, is within. read al-Muzzammil verse 1-4.
may God bless. peace.
joe
p.s. details on the procedures is being prepared and should be available in free-minds soon. it is a compilation of verses of al-Qur'an on how to learn with God as the Teacher. insha-Allah.

someone said -"All muslims KNOW that it is no longer the true message when it is translated out of Arabic", so in oder for it to be a message for all mankind wae all need to learn arabic.
Look at this translation. Why would Allah increase sin? GOD hates sin

YUSUFALI In their hearts is a disease; and Allah has increased their disease And grievous is the penalty they (incur), because they are false (to themselves).
PICKTHAL In their hearts is a disease, and Allah increaseth their disease. A painful doom is theirs because they lie.
SHAKIR There is a disease in their hearts, so Allah added to their disease and they shall have a painful chastisement because theyI have started a new thread- verses that may not mean what they say.

25 These are the ones guided by their Lord, and these are the winners.
26 As for those who reject, whether you warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe.
27 God has sealed upon their hearts and upon their ears, and over their eyes are covers. They will incur a great retribution.
28 And from the people are those who say "We believe in God and in the Last Day," but they are not believers.
29 They seek to deceive God and those who believe, but they only deceive themselves without noticing.
210 In their hearts is a disease, so God increases their disease, and they will have a painful retribution for what they have denied.I think it's metaphorical for how they hurt themselves by denying God.

I believe I said that. Please don't twist words like a snake, the meaning was clear from the context; that this only applies to the quran just as the speech of jesus inspired by god would cease to be useful when translated out of Aramaic/Hebrew.

Salam Aaron,
I know the question is not directed to me, but I would like to answer.
If a messenger was sent to every group of people. And the messenger that first lead pvb to faith was Jesus. Then, that is one way that someone could say that a specific messenger was sent to them.
Obviously Jesus didn't personally visit pvb, but maybe it was his message that pvb recieved first.
Since all messengers speak of the other messengers, the initial messenger sort of points you in the right direction to learn about the others. After all we know that Isa even spoke to the people about Muhammad.
Salam,

On another forum we were talking about covenants with GOD.
God made a covenant with Israel- some follow some do not, God makes a new covenant through Jesus with Israel and Gentiles, some follow some do not- God makes goes back to the covenant with Abraham and Ishmael- some follow and some do not.
Is it in the Quran that Mohammad is the seal- Are we sure that is the true definition? Will GOD send another to try and make another covenant to keep gathering people to Him? Is this a Ba'Hai type thought?

YUSUFALI Remember We made the House a place of assembly for men and a place of safety; and take ye the station of Abraham as a place of prayer; and We covenanted with Abraham and Isma'il, that they should sanctify My House for those who compass it round, or use it as a retreat, or bow, or prostrate themselves (therein in prayer).
PICKTHAL And when We made the House (at Makka) a resort for mankind and sanctuary, (saying) Take as your place of worship the place where Abraham stood (to pray). And We imposed a duty upon Abraham and Ishmael, (saying) Purify My house for those who go around and those who meditate therein and those who bow down and prostrate themselves (in worship).
SHAKIR And when We made the House a pilgrimage for men and a (place of) security, and Appoint for yourselves a place of prayer on the standing-place of Ibrahim. And We enjoined Ibrahim and Ismail saying Purify My House for those who visit (it) and those who abide (in it) for devotion and those who bow down (and) those who prostrate themselves.Jesus spoke to me first and I got it. I believe greek very easy to translate to all languages, arabic is not.

How do you know that Jesus didn't speak and teach in Greek? At Jesus' time greek, aramaic and hebrew were spoken.
Acts 6
1In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Grecian Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food.
-
Salam,
Because Isa was sent to the children of Isreal and they spoke Hebrew, a semitic language. Aramaic is a sister language to Hebrew (and in my opinion the same language only a different dialect).
I personally do not believe that Acts is scripture.
Salam,
Arnab -
In Jesus' time, Hebrew was already a dying language, used only for reading the bible and religious ceremonies. Jesus and the other Jews of Judea spoke Aramaic.
You can tell from the New Testament itself
Mark 541
He took her by the hand and said to her, "Talitha koum!" (which means, "Little girl, I say to you, get up!" ).
'Talitha Koum' is Aramaic.
Matthew 2746
About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"?which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
Again, Aramaic. Jesus could have known some Greek, but there is no record of him using it in the scriptures. Judea had been a part of bother the Selucid Greek and Ptolomeic Greek Empires at some time or another, but revolted against them - the failure of the Selucid's to assimilate the Jews played a big part in the their empire's downfall. This is why the gospel according to braveheart (The Passion of Christ) casts Jesus as speaking Aramaic.

Did Jesus speak Greek or Aramaic?
When Alexander the Great conquered the known world about 300 BC, he made Greek the official language of his empire, as well as enforcing a common form of currency. This Greek came to be known as Koine Greek, (pronounced "koy-NEY" which means "Common Greek". With a common language and common currency, trade was greatly facilitated. Koine Greek was still the working language of the Roman Empire in the 1st century. Certainly if you were a literate person, or a businessperson, there were very compelling reasons to know Greek.
So it was very common in the first century Roman Empire for your own local native language to be your main tongue, but Greek as a second language. Many of the Jews of the Diaspora ("the scattered" - those scattered outside of Palestine throughout the Empire) no longer knew Hebrew, and used the translation of the Old Testament called the Septuagint, which was in Greek. This was the Greek Old Testament from which Paul and other New Testament writers quoted.
It was because Greek was such a common second language that Paul was able to travel the Empire and be understood wherever he preached. This enormously facilitated his efforts to spread Christianity.
And it could be argued that because Palestine was a major crossroad in the ancient world, it would make knowing Greek all the more compelling?what with all the non-Aramaic speaking foreigners passing through all the time.
As to whether Jesus used Aramaic or Greek in his utterances we just don't have enough hard facts to know for a certainty. There is every reason to believe that Jesus would know Greek as a literate man of his day (as well as Aramaic which was native to that area). And Palestine being the crossroads that it was, it seems entirely logical that he would preach in Greek so as to be understood by the greatest number of people. The simple language of his parables, for example, would have worked very well with audiences trying to understand him in a second language.
And then there's the internal evidence where Jesus does use Aramaic and it is recorded by the Gospel writers. Here are passages where an Aramaic word or phrase occurs in the middle of the Greek (in the Gospels), by Jesus or anyone else
(Jesus) "And whoever says to his brother Raka..." ( Matt.522).
(Jesus) "And having laid hold of the child's hand he says to her Talitha koum, which is being translated Maiden" ( Mark.541)
(The Gospel Writer) "And they lead him up to the place Golgotha, which is being translated Place of the Skull." ( Mark.1522)
(Jesus) "And in the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachtani, which is being translated My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?" ( Mark.1534)
(Followers) "Now when Jesus turned and saw them following he says to them What are you seeking? And they said to him Rabbi, which is saying being translated Teacher..." ( John.13
(Followers) "This one finds first his own brother Simon and says to him We have found the Messiah, which is being translated Christ." ( John.141)
(Jesus) "He brought him to Jesus. Having looked upon him, Jesus said You are Simon the son of Jonas, you shall be called Cephas, which is translated Rock." ( John.142)
It would seem that the Gospel writers are being careful to preserve Aramaic when it occurs. The fact that they would do so doesn't make much sense if Jesus normally spoke in Aramaic. In fact, if Jesus routinely preached and spoke in Aramaic, why didn't the Gospel writers translate everything into Greek? The fact that the Gospel writers went to some trouble to carefully record a few instances of Aramaic?with Greek translations?would suggest that Aramaic was the exception and not the rule.
None of these are hard proofs; I don't believe hard proof is possible based on the paucity of the available evidence; but I think the preponderance of evidence is that Jesus preached in Greek.
-
Problems with that. Firstly, yes the gospel writers did translate everything into Greek - the Aramaic phrases in the bible are always accompanied by translations. This suggests that the gospel writers included these phrases to give a flavour of the actual language Jesus was using all the time.
As I've already pointed out, although Judea was a part of Alexanders original empire, it quickly revolted. Not like places like Eqypt and Syria which remained ruled by Greeks up until the Roman Conquests. Judea threw out the Greek empires that sort to control it - as they tried to force the Jews to adopt paganism.
It's true, Greek would be a language of merchant trade, but Jesus isn't meant to have been a merchant, but a craftsman. And speaking greek would mean only the literate upper classes would have understand him in Judea - he would have reached a wider audience by speaking aramaic. The majority of people were not educated and therefore probably not bi-lingual - for Jesus to preach in that language could have been very elitist.
This fits in well with the fact that Christianity did not spread rapidly amongst the Greeks until Paul came along - it was he who started the emphasis on recording things in Greek.

And the messenger that first lead pvb to faith was Jesus.you mean pvb's faith that god has a son?
sarcasm noted.
But, of course, I meant the fact that pvb is here and reading the same books we are. He presents challenging questions and we all benefit from exploring the answers. Even if we disagree.
We are all at different places on the same path.
Quote from Arnab
After all we know that Isa even spoke to the people about Muhammad.only if you leave some of the words untranslated
Yes, ?Muhammad? is an Arabic word and left untranslated ;D
