Word usage in Al Quran - has anyone come across this?

I had this thought a while ago, but I haven't researched it but wanted to throw it out there, see what happens

From my studies, and reviewing of PRL data, I would say AQ seems to use the more well known / common / oft-used meanings of words, rather than obscure meanings of roots/words. It is interesting there is discussion in AQ itself about people distorting word usage and fabrication, which would imply there would be a preference to use the more well known / common / oft-used meanings of words.

So I was wondering has anyone come across words where AQ has used the less well known /obscure word meaning?

Also, I have sometimes read that it is interesting/amazing that AQ only uses about 1850 roots. Those who are familiar with Arabic prose, is this normal for a book of its size, is this unusually low or fairly normal?

As far as I can remember some that I have looked up, there is no exclusivity. If at all, it may the that the frequency is the same. That is, it shows up in the Quran with a certain value in the same frequency as in the language. But this is very much in the aire. Just a suggestion, I know it doesn't limit itself to one meaning or two.

How would we know that they were the "less well known/obscure" meanings? In Morocco I came accross the word "mihajj " meaning "Avenue". Was the word "hajj" a very everyday word and now it means "pilgrimage" whereas "way", or its derivatives, became the less well known/obscure meaning?

One way to check would be with Calssical Arabic dictionaries.

For example, AQ uses a word to mean ABC, and this is a rare usage according to the dictionaries, very few examples etc.
