I watch these things abit, because I am trying to form an honest opinion on entheogens. Sounds like the chemist here went nuts in the end. No good experience of God, preventing him. Even though he was an LSD chemist, which is claimed to be an entheogen. He seems to be enjoying a rare status among drug laboratorians too, for a while.
I am a bit alarmed by many of the things I read about LSD. It doesn
t neccesarily sound like a pleasant state. The normal understanding of the world dissappears. As one badtripper stated. Policemen turned into guardians of hell, (angels) and he had to talk to them to make sure that he was in jail, and not hell, and only till the next morning. - But its this angelic state of mind, that makes it difficult to completely rule out for entheogenic purposes, as the users also is often inspired with religious content.http//www.erowid.org/experiences/subs/exp_LSD.shtml
I also watched the movie "magic trip", about "the merry pranksters", where Ken Kesey used LSD in USA`s LSD experiments in the 60s. Totally legally. It seems that he breaks of his LSD journey of enlighthenment in the end.
My impression is that these users quite can`t say what they are experiencing. There is no "LSD is this or that" kind of thing.
Then again, if the movie Yellow Submarine is about LSD experience, there definatley is a strong element of gnosis there.

As I understand hallucinogens induce the same state that deep salat induces. In this state it is possible to reconfigure one's mind if one is aware of how to do it which for 95% of the people is not the case. The mental reconfiguration occurs aware or not depending on the thought content of the individual during and after the trip (particularly during sleep).
Hallucinogens present a very simple question to you, the same question as salat In this world of turmoil and appearances, will you then remain centered?
Of course it is a thousand times easier and assuredly safer to perform salat but it goes both ways, a single correctly executed trip may have the same effect as decades of meditation. However if one does not remain centered/still/at peace, then one's delusions/fears will be presented in full HD to one's peril or merit.

While this initially made me want to bury my face in my hands, it did provoke some interesting thoughts.
And that is that the noisy hippie enviroment is nothing for me. I am not quite the square either though.But Order is definately something that I seek, and enjoy.
