Jinn and Psychotropics.

Peace.
I am wondering about who the Jinn are.
I was actually wondering if humans are allowed to connect to them. (seems 6112 answers my question here )..... The reason I wondered about this, is because pre finding the Quran, I was interested in ethnopharmacology, and the substances that certain tribes have used for eons, to have connection with other dimensions. I know there is a plant called ayuhusca, that allows the Brazilian tribes to receive messages whilst in an altered state....it is known as the vine of the spirits (or vine of the soul).....people have said they were in contact with other beings that they either heard or saw....
I just wonder if these plants and substances could be allowing people to connect with Jinn....From what I have read, these altered states are revered by tribes as a source of information, about the future and about illness.....where is the info coming from....I cant see in the Quran anything that points to God saying that he will give information in this way.....could it be jinn? If it is, why has it been helpful to these tribes......
Full on question .....sorry...... I am very new to the Quran.......
Thanks to anyone who can help here.....

May be we don't know. I don't know. I can speculate and like sime ideas as a possibility. May be it was some kind of humans that existed before our present species. May be they are beings from outer space, may be some beings in parallel universes. But it is definitely very interesting that they are mentioned and dealt with in the Quran. They are at any rate as I gather beings with free will and in that sense, akin to humans.
As to comingo in contact with them through drugs... I don't know... Depending on the drug what you may get is something that is inside you and you usually do not access because there are inhibitors... May be at some mental or submental level we are permeable and other minds can acess our minds... I suppose all of this in time will be studied and experiences made to verify. In fact with many of these things experiences have already been done... but it has not much is officially acknowledged or divulged.

Jinn As Found In The Quran By Arnold Yasin Mol ? 2006
One of the biggest problems today with interpretation of the Quran, is the concept of leaving words untranslated. The idea that some words are titles, fixed meanings, can create confusing and contradicting subjects. Also it has taken away many important messages which Allah through the Quran tries to teach us. So what I?ll try to show in this book, is that the Quran contains no titles, except for a few names of persons and places. Thus approaching words in the Quran, not as titles, but as words with meanings itself relevant through the contexts of the verses. Making it subjective to the context, and not one-given meaning as would be, by approaching it as titles. Leaving the words not untranslated, or a filled in meaning from history, but translating them exactly to what they mean in the Arabic. This can give surprising and exciting results. The word jinn, was always approached as a title, one fixed meaning, as for example the word human. But is this truly so? Does the word jinn, malik-a, shaitan have fixed meanings throughout the Quran? Let?s see what these words mean and see if we get the same understanding of its meaning in every verse it is used. Is jinn really the mythological entities, made from ?fire?, and having children with us, deceiving us, as this is the meaning given as jinn in a title? First we?re going to look to the real meanings of the words, and then how they?re used inside the Great Reading of God, and see how the Quran explains itself, how it must be understood.

Arnold,
Interesting article......I think following this train of thought could be a bit dodgy for me......not sure i should be really going there...from your article and quotes from the Quran, it seems this a ploy of Shaitan........
Huruf.....thanks for replying....most people who take these substances do say they think the "beings" are within themselves, but they are people coming from the west, taking the substance as a kick....
I know some Ecuadorians who use the drug in ceremony and they believe they are beings outside themselves.....God only knows.....

As I said, I think it may depend a lot on the drug you take. I think there may be a whole range of them each one doing something specific, and affecting different people also in different ways. I read at one time the diary of Ana?s Nin and she explains what she experienced when she took lsd for that specific purpose. She came out with a conlusion that didn't surprise me. It sort of magnified her fantasy. The drug hadn't given her anything she didn't have before, it was still her fantasy, but it was magnified, intensified.
I have also read or heard of people having awful visions... My take is that some drugs make take down the mental control and makes permeable to submental communication. But who or what communicates is the question. I am afraid that we do not much about this, although I am sure that some studies and experiences are being done. Russians at one time were very much on it. But I do not know now. It is worthwhile investigating, but I think it must be done in controlled conditions and with all care and precautions, because it may not be inocuous.
Things that are done ritually with drugs are usually controlled through previous knowledge and tradition, what they actually experience they or any person necessarily translate them into things they know or into the world they know. It cannot be done in any other way. We cannot put things in a universe we do not know. Whatever comes from that "universe" we put it in what we know, for lack of knowledge of anything else.

The active ingredient in ayahuasca is DMT which is supposedly manufactured in small amounts in our brain's pineal gland (more on that later p). I haven't had the opportunity to sample this blessed drink but I've come close enough. One consistent thing between tryptamines such as DMT, mushrooms, LSD, etc is the presence of "machine elves", creatures that resemble the archaic concept of "angels". I have good reason to believe that the entire concept of jinn comes from people's experiences on psychedelics. The most convincing thing would be the consistency with which people observe these creatures. Another chemical of interest would be ibogaine, perhaps the most powerful visionary agent available today.
In my experience these things do tend to give you a lot more false information than genuinely useful life lessons so it's worth taking that into mind. Whether it comes from the mind or not is a very hard question but judging from everyone's experiences, I'd lean to the "hidden side of nature" viewpoint. What these agents do is break down one's mental barriers forcefully. The same end can be achieved through other ways which of course require a lot more work to attain, though the end result would probably be a lot purer.
Keep in mind that "jinn" does imply hidden from view so maybe there is a lot out there
