In fact read the whole sura. I find that no one can help me become close to God, but God. Sometimes you can struggle with your faith but that's what prayer is for.

This is competely healthy. Don't worry about it. I myself am always between faith and doubt, always, and about almost everything. I have realized that it is a great thing actaully, to question oneself, because questioning is like refining ones beliefs and character as it opens doors and puts you on a higher level of thinking...and with that comes spiritual growth. Relax and don't be so hard on yourself. I think you are on the right track. )
I agree with TAJ... I also feel the most important thing in this world is to have faith in God and associate no others with Him. If you were an old person dying in your bed and this was the only thing you were sure about ... then I'm confident you would still go to heaven.

I will just take it moment to moment.....I do love the Quran, I do believe God is there and i do believe I live my life with awareness....
I guess I get a bit sad that I am the only person in real life that I know, that thinks about the Quran like I do....Its something I need to learn I guess....to be happy with God only.

It's not wrong that you feel lonely. Many of us do. If you go through that thread about starting an Islamic community, you will see that many people have said they want to start one because they feel very alone.

We are a social especies, so we like sharing. What can be wrong with that. Just, as a matter of common sense, use your judgement with the choice of persons, and be patient. Patience is a miraculous virtue and is always rewarded in the most heartwarming way. Do not get discouraged. God is with you, guiding you if you do not reject it. One of the things from the Gospels that I most revere and which is the whole point of Islam is Maryam's or Mary words "I am your servant, Your word be done on me". If you say that to God from your heart you can never be alone and you can never be wrong. That is the esence of acceptance of Reality, of acceptance of yourself, of peace with yourself...
I am sure, in sha Allah, you will get very well along, and I am sure that you are grateful to God for your lovely kid and that you pray for him... You are not alone Boomerang, you are in the best company, but it is true that man is a sensitive creature quite capable of suffering for any reason or no reason at any moment...
Patience and may His will be done.

I think it would be a good idea for you to go to your local mosque. You may not be a Sunni yourself, but theres normally a great community feel there and converts to Islam are normally treated really well. Ask the Imam there some questions about the Quran and hadiths. I am sure he will be courteous and respectful to you as long as you are the same to him. -

The problem with your suggestion is that the Sunni Imam will either mislead Boomerang, or be very annoyed with her if she's an assertive person. And there's the possibility that the Sunni Imam and his congregation will become violent towards her because of her belief that the Quran is the only Islamic text.

Ask the Imam there some questions about the Quran and hadiths. I am sure he will be courteous and respectful to you as long as you are the same to him.Imo, if one is a thinker, the mosque will only draw him/her further from God and the Quran.

I already go to a sunni forum, and i drive them nuts ;D.....I ask way too many questions, and I question things they do not like me questioning.......I also have questions about topics that they may not appreciate......

After reading your post I wondered if your choice of username reflected how you felt.
My suggestion is take your time, read, reflect, question, build a strong foundation, grow and implement gradually. At times you might feel you are far away from God, but like a boomerang, it's only a matter of time before you return to the source. Keep this in mind and you will be fine.

As long as her assertiveness doesn't turn into rudeness, most Imams would be courteous from what I've seen and I don't think he will mislead her. Its important that boomerang gets both sides of the argument and to have an understanding of what the other side thinks. It would probably be to her benefit.
If boomerang lives in the UK there is no way anyone will become violent to her in a mosque. -

When I began reading articles on this website, I decided to ask the people on Ummah forum questions about hadiths, etc and they eventually banned me permanently. They didn't really give me the answers that I was searching for, but I found my answers from other Sunni sites. Looking back at some of the things I said on the forum I now realise how annoying I must have seemed to them, but I don't even believe in what I use to say to them anymore.

No, I guess i am usually rather polite, and do things the ways they like things to be done.....they have never banned me, but remove my posts if i am too right! ;D They are a nice group of people actually.....hadith mad, but very accepting.....

Its funny that you ask this question.....my name is Kylie and it means boomerang....the guy who set me upon the path of looking to the Quran, suggested to me that the boomerang always returns...."reverts"......I guess thats what i have done living away from God for the majority of my life, and then finding the Quran......I know it does sound like a weapon,....thats something I need to work on....but I am after returning to the source as you said.....Thanks for the reminder

I dont think we are annoying them, there may be one of them that looks at the way they have taken on their religion and sees there is another way to look at it....information and another way of looking at things can hardly be detrimental......I find they show me a lot too...
I will bookmark your link.... as another place to find answers from....Information seems to come to me, when I am ready for it I am finding....and most stuff either resonates in my heart or not......I'll sort this all out eventually.....
