Is Make Up Allowed According To Quran?

I don't remember this topic being open but i'll ask anyway.
So, is it?
Would make up fall under category of changing how The Exalted God AllMighty has created us?
Please provide verses from the Quran.

Would you also question if any of the following fall under the category of changing how God created us?

Shaving face, arms, legs, etc.
Clipping our nails
Cutting/Styling our hair
Wearing a wig/hair piece (which is often used to cover a bald head, i.e. cancer patients)
Wearing perfume
Applying anti-wrinkle cream
Removing a mole on the face... the doctor says it's no problem, but you can't stand looking at it in the mirror anymore
etc. etc. (I'm sure more can be added here)

All of these things can be considered good grooming, good hygiene, ways to make us more attractive/feel more attractive, or ways to give us confidence dealing with society.

I don't know of any verses in the Quran that prohibit make-up. If it is not prohibited, then we can decide for ourselves if we want to wear it or not.

I apreciate the response, i was just trying to stay as informed as one can be.
I also did the research and verified it and didn't find any verses that would say that make up is prohibited. Of coruse, we should always, always verify all info that we see and hear.

I agree! I also don't believe there are hidden meanings in the Quran. If it's in the Quran, then it's important. If it's not in the Quran, then it's our choice to do or not do.

There are many things which would be difficult to judge on themselves without going into the reasons for doing them. This would fall into that category. For some people it may be a need, for others may be vanity, for others just following fashion or what prevails in their group... That is why it is important rather than to jump to call wrong or right, to ask ourselves why, what for, why do I even come to think of it...

My understanding is it does not matter what someone has on their face or around their hair but the piety in their hearts. Vanity is something we all surrender to, but I believe it is up to the person to decide what is modest and what is excessive.

Yes, we all surrender to vanity. The question is do we want to surrender? If we do, that is fine, but if we do not and just surrender because everybody surrenders or because we do not realise what we do, or because we do not have the courage to go against the current... They are different things and, aside from being wrong or not, it is important that we know why we do what we do so that we do not deceive ourselves or, unwittingly, others.

I believe that changing what God created is what we do to others, not to ourselves. I think cosmetic surgery/make up we do to ourselves to make us feel better does not fall within this category, whereas genital mutulation and circumcision do fall in it because they are done on others without their consent, they may not be necessary and can even lead to serious compications and death.

Many things we do to ourselves because of social pressure-blackmail, and that is specially the case of adolescents, who are so vulnerable to peer pressure and so much in need of approval and acceptance by the group or by anybody in fact. So the environment can be just as much of a tyrant as anybody who imposes itself by force, I do not call that doing something willingly, but through manipulation, which is even worse than straight force, because you are deprived even of the moral force to disent. Or where actually you are not forced, but you may not get a job or other things if you do not comply with certain requirements as far as appearance goes.

I also believe that make up isn't prohibited and is a matter of choice but what about cosmetic surgery? People can change their apperance completely with this- and it cannot be erased like make-up can? Isn't this "correcting" Allah's work?

As a rule, I would not consider cosmetic surgery as "correcting Allah's work", see the following where simple and relatively inexpensive surgery can change someone's life for the better

It all depends what kind of surgery are we talking about. There are several people who have, what is known as rabbit-lip. This sort of thing needs to be "corrected" by surgery and not to please others or to gain points with anybody but simply to fix a mistake done by humans.
As we know, no one is born with a rabbit-lip but if someone is born with this or that disorder or malfunction, it is due to the human's cause.

Example if parents smoke bvefore child's conception and even during pregnancy and even after the child is born, then this little child will gorw with weak lungs, correct?

I agree, make up does not fall into this category, make up is simply to attract the attention and on many occasions people are misinformed by the make up some men think that women who use "too much" make up, are actaully inviting them for an intimate thing.

I think the eyeliner has one good thing about the attentionYou really, REALLY listen to a woman. Because of the eyeliner, you really, really watch her eyes and therefore listen to her words.
